Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

Yeah, been saying that for about a week now. It's all good as long as you get lights out pitching and production from other spots in the lineup, but that's not going to go on forever. The "it's early" excuse is rapidly approaching it's expiration date...and a lot of these places that they've been getting production way beyond the expected are going to begin to regress back to the mean. Those two need to wake the [censored] up.

Well, Choo generally gets hot with the weather, does he not?

Edit: Just checked the splits, and I guess they kind of suggest that, but not real obvious... but better 2nd half guy in his career...

I think the real key with him as other gravitate back to normal, if he gets hot, he can do a lot on his own.

Smooth, well, he's a kid... but a very talented one, he'll get it sorted out... and, he'll need a rest day or two as it is, so, maybe that will help.

I think the real questions are whether the MASH unit of Hafner and Sizemore can be consistent. I have to say, I'm very surprised thus far (Though, someone's earlier comment about Sizmore's "occasional power" is unfair, the guy has been playing on one leg for god knows how long).. but Hafner's approach is back to the early days... not the power days, but, before that... I always looked at him as kind of a .300/25/90 type guy... based on his approach at that plate and that was why when we traded for him that he was the 3rd "slugger" coming up for the Rangers behind Texiera and Blaylock (I didn't consider the level of futility of his 1B skills at the time)

If he can do that, stay healthy and be a tough out, that's good.

Of course, here's where-- and this is always out there-- Sizemore's return, plus Hafner's DH only status kills our flexibilty... we have to keep enough OF's/1B type's around to give them days off... especially Sizemore... so, we become short at D skill back-ups.. so we're kind of stuck with LaPorta and Hannahan or Chisenall without too many other options.

I'm not gonna mention pitching, that's what we call jinx city, I'm prepared to let those guys ride... long live Tim Belcher.

total stinkey by Carmona

and Durbin is still awful...7.56 ERA 1.80 WHIP on the season now :shake: nice signing

He is immediately the new I can't believe we have this spanker player this season. I can't believe he is allowed to pitch in the bigs with all the kids we have.

Well, dropped both to a pretty bad Twins team. Will be interesting to see how they bounce back...I have a feeling the good times are over...for a while, anyway. The bullpen hasn't been very good the past week, and the timely hitting has disappeared. If Choo and Santana don't start hitting, the plummet has begun.

Here comes the cruel, inevitable smack back to reality...

Can my reverse mojo carry over into this season?

Yeah, those 2 games are vintage Indians. We'll see if they can bounce back or else they drop about a million games in a row now. They haven't been home much, so maybe they'll have some better success at the Prog.

Listening to an Indians show last night and Shapiro was on for a minute and they were talking about starting pitching. Shapiro mentioned the name of Alex White as a possible call up if Carasco is a no go. He also mentioned another guy from Columbus whose name I cannot recall. White did pitch a very solid six innings for Columbus last night. Why waste his talents in the minors. Other club bring up #1 draft choices.

You'd think David Huff would be a likely option.

I do not believe White is on the 40, so, a roster move would need to happen (:cough: Chad Durbin :cough:).

I tend to think if they are even considering White, then you can assume that Carrasco is going to be down a while, if it's just a spot start, I'd say they'll just use Huff* for a game.

I wouldn't worry too much, Litl, if they somehow stay in contention for the Central, I imagine we'll see White at some point too just based on the need for starter innings and the number of young guys we have who haven't probably had this kind of work load in the past.

*Or whoever my feeble mind isn't thinking of.

I guess that's what I thought also but the name that Shapiro mentioned besides White was a Latino name. I would have recognized Huff unfortunately. I was just very surprised when Shapiro mentioned White's name.
