Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

Hey, look on the bright side: Andy Marte is still not here!
Our old buddy Marte the Parte just finished the season with the Indianapolis Indians, Pirates' AAA club, in fine style:

.202, 7 HR, 37 RBI, 60 strikeouts and 37 walks in 287 AB, .278 OBP and .606 OPS. In typical Marte fashoin he finished the year by getting worse: 2nd half of season he "hit" just .182 with .558 OPS.

Apparently Marte didn't get a chance to pitch this season.

The Indy Indians are holding a charity auction of game worn 2011 jerseys. Here's Andy's:

As of this evening the Indians' fans were showing the good sense of not offering any bids!

Yes we have reason to be disappointed and to bitch. But the injuries this team has suffered...

Hafner
Sizemore
Carrasco
Brantley
Hannahan
Tomlin
Cabrera
White (while he was here)
Choo

JFC, that would devastate almost any fucking club not named the Yankees. And at this time last year the Tribe was 57-82, 25 games out and in dead-last place, .5 game behind the Royals.

I have purchased tickets for the last home game this season (Fan Appreciation) and I intend to give this team a standing ovation. They gave us an exciting summer. If they can get over the injuries and come back next year with a couple of those holes filled, 2012 will be even better.

I think that most will agree this game gave us a nice run for the majority of the season and it might have even been better without all of the injuries but some of the guys have really underperformed when they weren't injured mainly Haffner and Sizemore. If Carmona had lived up to his expectations, even with these injuries the team might still be fighting for the division crown. I will give them props for what they have done this season with all the noted injuries and wait until next year.

Hope you win a new car:)

Guess you overlooked the fact that the Tiggers have been pounding the ball against everyone the past few weeks? No shame in losing to them. Check their second half stats: Detroit has a very good club. Tribe hung with them a lot longer than virtually anyone thought they would and, even today, showed a lot of drive and character.

EVERYONE. Texas, Chicago and the Indians all got plunger raped by these guys. The Tigers are getting hot at the right time and are going to be tough in the post-season.

So what happens now?

Hafner and Sizemore have got to be done at this point right? I'd rather have Thome back than Hafner.

What could the Tribe get for Sizemore and Carmona?
I don't think Hafner's going anywhere, pretty sure his contract runs through 2012. Sizemore & Carmona are going into option years, IIRC, and I hope they don't pick them up. Neither are any more productive than your typical AAAA player on any consistent basis.
