Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

newest rumor is indians are interested in bj upton...i would rather have pence....if it was justin upton ya....ive never been a fan of bj's attitude...although he is intriguing since he is only 26, he isnt the same player he was 2 years ago

Three. Fucking. Errors. I've never seen a worse defensive team. It's astounding how much they've fallen apart after a decent start. I actually cringe everytime a ball is in play with these butchers. :shake:

Also, looks like Sipp is back in full-retard mode...

At this point, I don't even want them making any moves. It's pointless. Nobody they can acquire is going to help the horrendous defense, make Sanatana stop grounding out to second or strikeout looking, or keep OCab out of the lineup. They're degenerating into the team we all thought they were and Ryan fuckin' Ludwick isn't going to help that.

Epic dumbfuckery by Acta in this inning. Unbelievable. He either has no concept of how/when to pinch hit or has just plum given up. Wasn't he supposed to be a sabermatrician? Holy fuck.

:slappy: I'm going to have to remember to introduce that phrase at my next staff meeting...

I've been saying for weeks Acta is in full Paris Hilton mode, and it just keeps getting more and more obvious...

I am actually in agreement that they shouldn't make any moves. They shouldn't firesale (you know, all those tremendous major league ready pieces we have) but they shouldn't buy anyone either...this season is out the window. Even if they snuck into the playoffs they would get armadillo-fucked by whoever they played in round 1...better to build for the future.

wow...2 games out and everyone is giving up? i agree it would be dumb at this point to trade away a good prospect for a ryan ludwick type (which is something i can see us doing, just because this is cleveland)...but i am still all for going after a hunter pence, mike morse type player who can not only contribute this year but also for the future...we have a shit ton of talent in the minors and not everyone of them is going to be a superstar...you trade some of these assets for superstars now....and we are only 2 games back...a week from now we could be one game up on the tigers and the trade deadline will have come and gone and people will be bitching because we sat with thumbs up our asses and didnt do shit...still a very very long season left...hopefully we stay aggressive and try to obtain players to help us win without salvinging all of our future at the same time

It's not the 2 games out, it's the steady decline in the quality of play the past 2-3 months. What were big strengths (bullpen, clutch hitting, defense at some positions) are now average or below, and weaknesses we had (hitting, defense at other positions, tendency towards injuries for pretty much all the ML players) are now God-awful. We no longer own teams at home, we can't beat the White Sox at all, we are .500 or below on every trip, and we can't even win series against weaker teams like Baltimore. We could finish 2nd or 3rd, but unless Detroit collapses the final 2 months, it isn't going to be first. And even if by some miracle it is...is this team built to contend with the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays, or Rangers? Fuck no, we got apefucked by Toronto, and they don't even have a shot at the playoffs. If they can get a Pence that's under contract for 3-4 years, more power to them...but renting a solidly mediocre major leaguer for 2 months like Ludwick is the worst thing that could happen to this team right now. If the kids get experiece they could be ready for next year and the glass jaws we have could be on their way out. Otherwise, next year will be this year all over again.

while i agree with all of this, when you get to the playoffs its not who you play, its how you play....i agree we shouldnt have a shot in hell with any team in the playoffs outside of a team from the AL Central....but as i posted earlier, we have to take advantage of a year like this, even with the injuries to choo and sizemore, because next year is no guarantee we will be competing like this next year...we got ourselves to this spot of being 2 games out currently from how we played earlier in the season...just because currently we are playing like how everyone thought we should of all year, doesn't mean we cant turn it around and play like we did earlier this year....im not going to be pissed one way or another if we stay pat at trade deadline or not....i want whatever is best for this team that does not destroy us for the future...and another thing...if you bring kipnis up then fucking play the kid....that is all

In 2007 we were 1.5 games back in the Central at this point. Now, i'm not saying this team is ANYTHING like 2007's but it's just something to think about. It sounds like we're trying to make a deal for BJ Upton. Crazier things have happened in the Central the last two months of the season, so while i'm not all "rah rah we still got this!!1!1!" I still have some hope that we can turn things around.

You're right, this team isn't anything like 2007...this division just sucks balls.

As for B.J. Upton...uness they're asking B-level prospcts, and I doubt they are, pass. He's the definition of an uncoachable player. All the talent in the world, pea brain. If Joe Madden is giving up on him, there's something wrong. He's just the kind of player that can absolutely wreck what little chemistry this team has.
