Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

I guess I can blame last night's loss on Valbuena but I won't. I will blame this on the coaching staff. They have a bench coach who is supposed to position players and why the hell they had Valbuena right in front of the warning track I will never know. That was the problem. It wasn't about angles or anything else it was simply because he was not given proper signals from the dugout.

I also think that Acta deserves part of the credit for the loss for taking Masterson out of the game. I know that Masterson said all the right things after the loss put the last pitch that he threw was clocked at 94 mph. He could have pitched the entire eighth-inning and came back and pitched the ninth but I guess I can blame last night's loss on Valbuena but I won't. I will blame this on the coaching staff. This game really hurt and I can tell by the responses in this thread that I am not the only one who was really upset about this game in particular.

Actually it's nothing like that, but whatever. Your theory appears to be if you are fast, you are a good outfielder, so if we signed Usain Bolt and Carl Lewis we would win 18 World Series in a row. But it doesn't matter what you or I think anyway.

Back to the game, the Indians have taken the lead 3-2...hopefully Tomlin can stay strong with it.

no, my theory is that a guy with speed that has actually played the outfield in his professional career is a better option than a plodding 3rd baseman that hasn't set foot in the outfield in 20 years. Funny, you mock my metaphor then come back with Usain Bolt.

That was intentional, glad you picked up on that...

Again, moving on...

Hopefully Tomlin can go 6 and keep it close, I think we can get another couple of runs.

then did you intentionally miss the entire premise of my argument, or choose to ignore it?

Have you missed the part where it is pointless to clog this thread with more of this? You have your opinion, I have mine, we have expressed them, there is a game going on. Next.

If the front office is going to pull the trigger on a trade, they really need to go out and get a bat and do it within the next couple days and not wait a week until we are 4-5 games behind. 3 hits off of Blackburn:shake:

I agree. Problem is I'm not sure who is really out there. They were talking about Francouer at length last night.

But at least we've tied it up (thanks Butera) and now we can think about a series win if we can get a run and the BP can, well, not see Durbin on the mound.

It's going to take another week or so to see who is realistically a buyer or seller come trade deadline time. there was some talk about hunter pence, but the price on him might be pretty high, like a white or pomeranz, plus more. But, cleveland cannot continue to try and tread water until Choo comes back, and hope he 1. comes back ahead of schedule, and 2. starts hitting right away. Cleveland may be able to rent Beltran at a reasonable price, but that isn't the kind of move they typically make.

my take is, cleveland has a glut of pitching prospects and bullpen guys in AAA. They have a multitude of 2nd base prospects. If the Astros will take Kipnis and McAllister for Pence, do it.

I don't understand why the Indians are trying to steal so much and getting consistently thrown out. I know that they need to try and manufacture runs but this is getting borderline ridiculous.

Regarding a trade. Isn't there some guy from the Nationals that is pretty good who is signed for 2-3 more years:huh:

Morse has been a guy they have been eyeing, Pluto talked about him in the PD the other day. He just had a hot streak, so he looks attractive, but he could hit .220 with 2 HRs down the stretch too, it's hard to say. I think he can play some OF and 1B, so defensively he would help.

As for the greater idea, I think it will be interesting to see what organizational philosophy they have. They do have a glut of pitching, but the Braves put those 14 division titles or whatever it was together with the singular philosophy that you can never have too much starting pitching. Whether they follow that and refuse to part with SPs for trades or if they use them as bargaining pieces will be very interesting. Beltran is an idea but he's a rent-a-dude, and with this team highly, highly, HIGHLY unlikely to win a World Series even if they make the playoffs, I don't think that deal would make a lot of sense at this stage. A guy like Morse would make more sense, but the price for a guy under contract will likely be higher.
