Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

A female coach... interesting way to get a group to play as a team on the floor...
When you watch college males, it still, too often, is one on one... college females pass... purest basketball techniques...
I like the move

Dude’s a bust already.

A PG? Really? Isn’t that the position the last bum they took plays? Whatever dude’s name is from Bama.

Struggles to finish in traffic against length and contact. Not a physically imposing prospect or a threat to go up and finish above the rim. Has to rely on finesse and creativity, of which he's shown glimpses.

Lacks a degree of defensive upside. Quick hands and feet but might struggle early in his career against more powerful guards. How will he hold up against switches? Coming off an MCL injury that sidelined him for most of his freshman campaign.

On paper, the fit between Darius Garland and last year's top-10 pick, Collin Sexton, doesn't look seamless. Both players stand 6-foot-3 or shorter with lean frames, and both need the ball in their hands to be successful.

So he can’t take it to the rim. He’s lean and not tall by NBA standards but will struggle against bigger guards AKA almost everyone. He’s got an MCL injury in his recent past. He can shoot but needs the ball in his hands to create his shot and the Cavs already have a “needs the ball in his hands” PG.

Great pick.

Wake me when the Cavs trip and stumble onto a no-brainer all-time-great NBA player with the 1st pick. That’s when they’ll start to become good again.

For the critics, who do you think the Cavs should have taken instead of Garland?

The draft is more about projecting into the future than looking back into weaknesses of the past. You have to take the guy you think will turn out to be the best player in the future. Taking Garland is a gamble, and for all I know it will pay off. I would rather have him than DeAndre Hunter, as I don't see much room for improvement from Hunter while Garland could become one of the top tier shooters in the NBA. The pick seemed to be a reasonable one.

Funny, the same ESPN analytics that said D-Russ had the highest bust potential but also relatively high star potential are saying similar things about Garland. Boom or bust type of pick. Which just means you probably have to give Garland a few years to really grow into his potential.

It is quite possible that Collin Sexton and Darius Garland will form the worst defensive back court in NBA history. And as an added bonus, neither guy can facilitate. Nice!!!
