Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I thought and most other experts did as well that the Cavs did well.

If Porter matures he could be a viable player.
But he has a ton of growing up to do.

Garland was the BPA and the Belmont kid might have been the best shooter.

We could set records for the worst defensive team.

Why is J.R. still on the roster?

Only a FO mastermind could have spotted those diamonds in the rough. The point is, without a no-brainer sitting there at #1, the Cavs have proven to be historically inept at drafting talent. It’s comically bad. We need one of those @LordJeffBuck research posts showing just how bad they have been outside of the LeBron and Kyrie drafts (players taken/passed on.) Hell, these clowns took Anthony Bennett at #1. Even being #1 doesn’t save them from being completely fucking brain dead if talent isn’t right there pummeling them in the dick.

It is quite possible that Collin Sexton and Darius Garland will form the worst defensive back court in NBA history. And as an added bonus, neither guy can facilitate. Nice!!!

It’s great! Garland can’t facilitate but needs the ball so he’ll just dribble around a while unsuccessfully against a bigger guard until he has to force something, which he also can’t do because he can’t drive and finish unless there is a lane as wide as the 110 in Los Angeles.

Report: Cavs expected to waive J.R. Smith

The Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to waive swingman J.R. Smith on Monday after a lengthy quest to find a suitable trade for him, according to Joe Vardon of The Athletic.

Barring an unforeseen event or a last-minute offer for the veteran marksman, the Cavs will part ways with their shooting guard after four seasons, the last of which was mostly spent exiled from the team while collecting a hefty $14.7 million paycheck.

Smith played in only 11 games during 2018-19, getting four starts early on in the season before the organization made the decision to favor the team’s youth after LeBron James’ departure, which only infuriated veterans like him and others who expected to get some playing time.

While most of the rest were traded at some point, Smith’s gaudy contract was one that was tough to move. Now, by waiving him on Monday — the very last day possible unless the contract guarantee date was pushed back further — the Cavs will only have to pay him a $4.4 million portion of the $15.68 million contract for this upcoming 2019-20 season.

The early returns on Darius Garland are ... he shouldn't have been the #5 pick in the NBA draft. Dude started 0-10 from the field tonight. It is obviously very early, but so far he is looking more like a guy that should have been a mid-first rounder at best. There are several guys that were selected lower that are outperforming him, including guards Coby White and Tyler Herro.
