Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Derrick Williams performance last night.. intrigued me... looks to have the potential I was hoping...
but wondering why he's bounced around (5 teams/5 yrs) and was eventually a free agent
He reminds me of Varejo as PF... but younger, healthier, shorter/smaller but much more athletic
Maybe he now understands the opportunity he has at hand.. and willing to step up

PS We got CRUSHED on the boards last night... which led to OKC getting 27 more shots than us... Williams had no rebounds... albeit he obviously was told to hang out at the 3 pt line and not take any 3s

Derrick Williams is going to be pretty important for the Cavs until Love gets back. He seems to be a little bit of a poor mans Lebron. If they can get him to give good effort on D and be a mix between TT and Lebron he's going to be a good fit. He's athletic enough he can be a playmaker to get to the hoop and he's big enough he can be a small ball 4. Everyone else the Cavs have picked up over the past couple years has been all about shooting, but Williams brings the athleticism to blow by slow rotations to get to the hoop for an easy basket or a foul. Now that the Cavs have a free roster spot they might be better off trying out all the athletic 7 footers in the D league on 10 day contracts until Love gets back. I think they matchup well against the Warriors, but they might have trouble if they end up against a team with true dominate bigs although I have no idea what team that could be.

I find it funny that Lebron must have been so pissed with his 3pt shooting after last season that he seems to have worked on his 3 from the left wing. I hope nobody catches onto this and starts running him off that spot. Currently he has 42 3's from that zone and 43 from the other 4 zones combined.

I bet the Wolves wish they would get Cavs game Wiggins every game. I think the dude has had career games against the Cavs every time he plays them save for the first matchup this year.

Trade deadline has come and gone. No moves for the Cavs today, although Korver can be viewed as their big acquisition for this season.

All eyes on the buyout/waiver market now. Two names to keep an eye on are Deron Williams and Andrew Bogut. Both are in the process of being bought out (Williams by Dallas and Bogut by Philly).

the cavs were never going to make any sort of real trade moves unless some team went full retard on iman shumpert.

the real losers of the trade deadline were the celtics for their death grip of draft picks costing them paul george.

Athletically he looks like a shell of his former self, age 32 and injuries. But i think he's a perfect fit. Can create his own shot, great IQ and passing capability.
He's also one of the top pick and roll guys in the league which is perfect for our roster.

Of all other options at adding a backup PG (Farmar, Chalmers, Cole), Deron is the best without a doubt.
He has the IQ and passing to be a great offensive creator. We have enough shooters and athletic guys.
We just need Deron to orchestrate the symphony. Maybe play his own tune every now and then.

Im excited, so glad he chose us over everyone else.

If we can add Bogut too, who also has a high IQ and great passing for a big man (+PnR guy), our bench would be lethal.
