Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Multiple Cavs moves in the works
1) Korver + 2019 first = Mo Williams + Dunleavy (who will be traded to a 3rd team)
2) Cavs need to get 2018 first back (can't trade 2 firsts in a row-thanks to Stepien); so they'll trade 2017 first to get their original 2018 first back
3) Will cut Macrae this week to not have to pay the guaranteed contract which costs them about $1M which is probably another $3M in tax; $4M savings
4) Looking at bringing back free agent Jarrett Jack as backup PG; he's recovering from ACL and almost ready to return; probably use money from cutting Macrae

We still have Birdman and a big trade exception
Mavs are going to dump Bogut (who makes $12M)
wouldn't surprise me to see Shump for Bogut
but Mavs will probably want more than that...especially assets with a future
actually... this is what I want to happen
We struggled with Bogut before he got hurt.. he can help

Butler is great, but his inability to shoot the three is a fatal flaw in today's NBA. As far as Bogut helping the Bulls, I don't think so. They can't score with the Cavs as is, they'll have no shot without Butler. Chicago's roster construction made no sense from the start. Rondo sucks, Wade's old, and neither of them can shoot the ball. Unless the Bulls plan on rebuilding the team from scratch, they should hold on to Butler. He's their only player worth building around.

I'll pass on Jarrett Jack. He's one of the worst players in the league according to advanced metrics. And Bogut is such a piece of shit I'll pass on him too. Also, this:

Other rumor is that Bulls are shopping Jimmy Butler
http://cavaliers.247sports.com/Bolt...lls-have-begun-shopping-Jimmy-Butler-50313997

that's worrisome.... he's serious trouble
and in the wrong hands come playoff time
he could make #2-#4 teams... dangerous
especially Toronto or the Bucks

or just as bad...
Butler for Bogut swap would sure help Bulls
Butler is a 26 year old All Star shooting guard with three more years of control at under $20 million annually on his deal. It's going to take a lot for any team to pry him away.

I'm dubious that the Bulls would trade Butler at this point but if they do, they're certainly not doing it for an injury prone center whose contract expires at the end of this season. Plus, the Bulls already have Robin Lopez who is three years younger than Bogut and basically provides the same statistical production at this point.

I can't really understand what the Hawks are doing. When I looked at the standings today I was expecting to seem them somewhere at the bottom, not leading their division. Did they realize they can't compete for a title with this team and figure it's better to blow it up and build for 4-5 years down the line when the Cavs are passed their prime? Why throw all that money at Howard just to blow it up 3 months into the season?

The Bulls need to rebuild. They have nothing going for them. The Celtics and Raptors are really the only competition in the East assuming they can each make a big move. The Raptors would have to be willing to go way over the cap this summer to make the kind of move to give them a shot. Not sure about Boston, but they have the Nets keeping their drafts stocked for the next couple years.

As far as the Cavs go I wouldn't make a move that sacrifices athleticism for a big. Hell no on a Shump for Bogut trade. Shump has finally started to play like we hoped he would when they traded for him with the 3 and D. The only matchup the Cavs need to worry about is the Warriors and another old school big doesn't do that. TT, Frye, Love, and Lebron can handle the 5 against the Warriors and bringing in Korver will give the Cavs some crazy lineup options once everyone is healthy. They probably do need to make a move/sign a PG, but they only need that in the event of an injury. I don't know if they'll be able to get someone that would be a better option than Felder. It isn't my money, but I don't know why they would cut Macrae unless they are planning on going with 13 players until the last couple games of the season. Macrae has a nice set of skills coming off the bench and it isn't like they can find a better option for less money so the only reason to cut him is to not pay anyone for that spot. I'm guessing they'll find someone with cap space to trade a very conditional 2nd round pick for Birdman and cash to cover his buyout to get them out of the tax they have to pay on his salary. If cutting Macrae saves them 3-4 mil trading Birdman and 1-2 mil would save them 2-3 mil and give the other team at least 1 mil for their trouble. This is going to be a fun ice show road trip to watch. Team will look a little different when they get back to Cleveland.

Saw JR Smith and his wife just had a daughter 5 months prematurely. She weights 1 pound.

The body/pregnancy/life is a crazy thing. Coworker just had a boy over 2 months early. Don't understand the hows or the whys, but positive thoughts being sent for JR and others going through that

Doing clinicals in NICU, 5 months premie is a hard road full of complications. Second the positive thoughts.

Catching some pretty pretty good basketball on a Monday night. This game is fun.

Really fun game to watch indeed, great win in OT. Amazing pass by Love and ridiculous 3 point shot from LeBron at the buzzer to tie it up and send it into OT.

But they brought up a rumor that LeBron wants to trade Love for Carmelo Anthony...curious what everyone else's thoughts are but I really hope that is not true. I have come to really like Love and he is obviously comfortable out there now with our current roster. Really think that would be a lateral move at best (honestly I like Love better) and has a high chance of messing with our chemistry late in the season.
