Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Oh I totally agree that right now, SA and GS would win a series with the Cavs. But the potential is there for Cleveland to improve by the time they'll meet to make it a toss up. Still a long ways to go to get there so hopefully the bench/role players will contribute, bc the Big 3 each played their roles very well yesterday. Just need more time playing together.

This is what we have to hope. If the Cavs can stay healthy they might be the only team with the pieces to play with GS. Kyrie can go hero mode same as Curry. The true key will be if Love can defend at the 5 when GS goes small. He is good enough at the post that they would have to put Green on him on D which will end up pulling him away from the rim. With Love at the 5 you can space the floor with 4 shooters and let Lebron and Kyrie go to work. GS relies on Green protecting the paint at the 5 so Lebron and Kyrie should be able to drive with ease and if Green stays near the paint Love can kill them from 3. If they switch Green onto someone else Love should have what he wants in the paint. I want to see what a lineup of Kyrie, Delly, JR, Lebron, and Love can do.

The thing stopping the Cavs from winning this is the lack of team awareness in my opinion. Watch their offense, every time down the floor there are at least 3 guys within 5 feet of each other, usually up near the top of the key. Defense is easy when they do that. Now, watch the Warriors. I watched that game last night for the first quarter and even without Curry, they understood their roles and the spacing was beautiful. They had multiple clean options every time down the floor. I scream at the Cavs every single game because they are standing around and huddling on offense and defense. That's why there are people wide open on the wing. They suck at spacing. Just stupid basketball players winning on talent and athleticism.

For someone the is supposed to have such good basketball IQ like Lebron, he must be a shit leader because guys are wide eyed out there like they have no idea where they are supposed to be. Then they keep losing. Coaches get fired and the new coach comes in and nothing changes.

I like the triangle option but they still have to stay spaced. Pick and roll works but to be honest, Delly and TT run it better than any of the Big 3 ever have. So something has to change or we're going to be disappointed again. Man I hope not

That's the problem that I see...the Cavs have played together for 2 seasons (minus the playoffs last year for love and the start of this year for Irving.) I'm tired of potential. They've been together long enough that it isn't potential time, it's reality time. The Pistons shot lights out yesterday and yeah, the Cavs won by 5, but how many games is Love going to score 28 and Kyrie score 31 to go along wih James' 22? All 3 had to be on their A game or that game is still a loss and that seems to be just as rare. I think people are overlooking that. The Cavs aren't routinely getting 60 points from Kyrie and Love, and 80 from the big 3 regularly. Usually one of those guys is off and the Cavs shouldn't have to count on monster perfromances from 3 guys to eek out a win against an 8 seed at home. The issues are all right there to see.

You are all deeply underestimating this Piston team. SVG is one of the five best coaches in the league, and there's a lot of talent on that Detroit roster. The Cavs will win in five or less, but it might be a dogfight up until the end. I know the Cavs look bad compared to Golden State, who is running through Houston, but the Cavs would also decapitate Houston given the opportunity to play them in the playoffs.

I still don't think the Cavs can beat Golden State or San Antonio, but they are easily the third best team in the league. It's not as bad as it seems. I also can't see Atlanta giving Cleveland this much trouble in round 2.

I'm underestimating a Detroit team that finished behind 7 Eastern Conference teams? A team that was only 6 games over .500? Did SVG just start coaching them a week ago or has "one of the five best coaches in the league" been coaching them all season to their stellar accomplishments? I understand that the Pistons are young but I see an issue with such a young team giving the LeBron led #1 seeded Cavs a tough go, SVG or not.

There happens to be a lot more talent on one roster than the other and we all know that it is Cleveland with more talent. The Cavs coach has always sucked though, and I'm not talking about the puppet in a suit that is interchangable, I'm talking about the leadership abilities of a man named LeBron James, the real coach of the Cavaliers.

A Detroit team that made some significant roster updates at the trade deadline. They're also giving Cleveland their best effort. I believe Reggie Jackson is the only guy on the team who had been in the playoffs before. For the Cavs this is just an inevitability. It's not if, but when. It's hard to work up motivation for a best-of-7 series when you're likely going to win in 4 or 5 regardless.

Fair enough. I've expected far more from the Cavs for quite some time so they usually disappoint. I'm hard to please.

He's like Lebron, the more he makes, the more he thinks he can make. He'll make 3 or 4 open ones then think he can step back and shoot over 3 guys

It seems like that's all I ever see him do. I know he was 4-6 from 3 point range when I typed that but he still takes terrible shots that kill the offense before they even get up the floor half the time.
