Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

This is just the first step for Paul. Take the total value of the contract down so when they bring it back up to 5 years for less than 94 mil it looks better than 53. I wouldn't be surprised to see it end up in the 82-85 range so everyone can save face. I'll be surprised if Paul lets TT go into the season without a long term deal knowing that the Cavs could severely limit his minutes to tank his value before next summer. Even with the cap bump nobody is giving a moderately good defender and rebounder that isn't much of a rim protector and has no offensive game more than 15 mil a year. If he somehow developed a corner 3 during the summer he might have a shot, but I'm not holding my breath. Honestly the only reason he is a good offensive rebounder is because he has no responsibility on offense other than P&R. If he isn't setting a pick all he has to do is get in position for a rebound. If the Cavs can pick up their 3pt% TT's numbers have nowhere to go but down especially if he is playing 20-25 minutes a game.

Pats self on back.

I like that he is now signed, don't like how much they paid for a backup. But he does provide some versatility for the different lineups the Cavs will face. Hopefully Love and Varejao can stay healthy with Tristan likely getting a bump in minutes (can't pay him that much to ride the bench).

I don't think it's fair to call him a backup. Does he start the game? No. Will he play more minutes than any big other than Love? Absolutely. I think 82 mil is completely overpaying for what what TT brings, but in a way that's fair given the Cavs situation. Having TT back in the fold will allow them to limit Mozzy to 20ish minutes a game and solidifies the 5 with a young, durable, athletic player, which is the opposite of the other 3 guys they have on the roster. Now TT can come into the game after 5-6 minutes for Mozzy and then slide over to the 4 when Love needs a break with Andy coming in. Mozzy is the perfect center for Love, but TT will do well with Andy since he has a good enough mid-range jumper that you have to account for him. My only fear right now is at the guards until Kyrie and Shump get back. I don't see any way that Harris or Cunningham don't get 10-20 minutes a game. I think Cunningham can give them a lot of what Shump brings, but if they need a shooter hopefully Harris can step up. When completely healthy this roster is crazy.

Mo 30 Delly 18
Smith 30 Harris/Cunningham 18
Lebron 30 RJ 18
Love 33 TT 10 Lebron 5
Mozzy 20 TT 20 Andy 8

This is going to be a frustrating regular season team...but really, who cares.

Just need Kyrie and Shump to get healthy. Can tell TT is rusty, but he needs to stop shooting the ball like he just got an $82 mil contract. I don't want to see him take a shot more than a foot from the hoop. Seemed like the Cavs were outplayed by more than 6 points in the first half. Be nice to see them pull out one of those insane hot streaks like they can.

So I was thinking. Rather than letting Mo inbound the ball on the baseline with under 4 why not Andy? He's a good passer and tall enough that he should have a clear view. He's also a decent shooter and rebounder if the ball came back to him. Still would have found a way to get Love a look from 3 rather than Lebron driving for OT.
