Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I suspect he's not been offered anything close to what green got, because if he did, he'd have pounced on it. As for going to Toronto, outside of passing up $7 million this year, he'd be pissing away a ton of that money in taxes. It would be beyond stupid.
must resist jokes bout him playing 1 year at Tejas...

Starting to like him a little less... already hate agents...

TT isn't winning with the fans. Him and his agent are the only people on the planet that think he's worth the max. Really 80 for 5 years is overpaying for what he brings. They can talk all they want, but they know they are leaving money on the table of they take the QO. If Love stays healthy and Andy or Kahn show up TT might only get 20 minutes a game. If he does take the QO I'd play him as little as l could just to fuck him over.

If he signs the qo, he can't be traded. I'd give him a one year deal for $10 mil as a "sign of good faith and to maintain birds rights" then trade his ass mid season.

Now he is missing time with the team just to get money he's not even worth.
I like the trade idea. We already have a starting PF and a starting C, and Varejao can backup both.

Resign TT for 10M and send him home to Toronto for PF Patterson and SF Ross.
Patrick Patterson is putting up similar numbers for one third the price, and Ross could backup Lebron.

Gap of $14 million in Tristan Thompson, Cavaliers contract negotiations, sources say

If no deal is reached by the end of the week, Thompson may sign the Cavs' one-year qualifying offer of $6.9 million to become an unrestricted free agent next year. His agent, Rich Paul, told ESPN last month that if Thompson signs the one-year qualifier, he will not re-sign with the Cavs long-term in 2016.

What pisses me off.. the media continues to present that the Cavs are offering the $6.9M minimum and Tristan wants $94M
Why don't any of them say.. he made X this year and the Cavs are offering $80M but he wants $94M
I love the dude... but if the games on the line and you need an 18 ft shot... do you want TT to be the one taking the shot... or being on the line...
that's the dude you pay $94M to

I haven't had that perception with the media, but maybe that's because I understand how QO's work. I think all of us realize that 80 mil over 5 years is still overpaying for what TT brings to the table. I'm guessing the Cavs will goose the numbers a little before the deadline to help Paul save some face, but I also don't believe that TT will walk next summer no matter what if he takes the QO. If he is looking at 65 mil over 4 years and the Cavs offer 90 for 5 I don't think he leaves money on the table. This game of chicken is going to be interesting to watch over the next week.

I know people will hate me... but I went to ESPN.com.. I know.. I know... I'm sorry
but just listened and puked at a Steven A Smith and Skip Bayless clip...
and the only number they mention is the $7M qual offer.. over and over
and that the Cavs are shit because they don't give TT every dime he wants
and part of their reasoning is that TT is as valuable as Love

Thompson's camp thinks he's Dennis Rodman. The rest of the league thinks he's Caldwell Jones. This probably isn't going to end well for Thompson.

People do realize that Thompson's inflated post-season numbers came PURELY because of necessity, right? Like, someone had to grab all of LBJ's misses (which were much much higher due to inefficient offense ran without KLove and late K.I.). And someone had to be there to catch the lobs.

Nothing this guy did was self-sustaining. He's a hard-working 4th big with no offense. This is ridiculous.

If history has proven anything, it's that Varejao won't make it to January, and that somebody will waaaaay overpay for Thompson. I hope it's not the Cavs.
