Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I'd still have the winner of the West winning, outside of some crazy injury like James Harden or Steph Curry getting hurt in a clinching game. The Cavs are good, but still a year away. Obviously Love getting hurt doesn't help either, adding to the fact that Kyrie is at maybe 60%. But it's somewhat hard to comprehend just how much better the West is than the East. Put Golden State in the East and they would have won 70 games. Think about that. Put the Cavs in the West and they probably don't break 50 (this year at least). I think they have a very good shot of winning it all next year though.

I was thinking they might beat up on each other and we'd have a solid shot, but now we're as hobbled as can be. Considering the injuries (also note losing Varajeo at the start of the season) and our play has been nothing short of miraculous so far imo. I'm with you on favoring the odds for the West but I think the Cavs have a fighting chance if they get through.

Still can't believe NY traded him and Shumpert for a 2018 pick. Talk about a steal

It's even better than that. The Cavs got those 2 players and a first round pick from OKC for Waiters, a 2019 2nd round pick, and a few scrubs. Basically the Knicks wanted to get rid of Smith so bad that they gave up Shump to make it happen and the Cavs traded Waiters for OKC's first round pick (next year now?). They then shipped that pick and another pick for Mozzy.

Lebron just needs to convince Smith to stay in the area for the summer to work on his game. Plenty of good golf in the Cleveland/Akron area.

What the heck was he doing? I don't expect him to take the charge, but there was no need to run away, nor that far out of the way. Weird.

I believe it was a poor attempt at what my HS coach called "cat and mouse". Show to the ball, hopefully trying to make the ballhandler think pass, then getting back to the passing lane if the pass occurs. We actually practiced this in both HS and college on defense in 2 on 1 and 3 on 2 fast break situations. The fact that Korver wasn't in front of the ball made his move look goofy.

The Cavs desperately need Houston to upset Golden State. I'd bet my house on GS in 5, though.

A CLE/HOU Finals series would be hilarious to watch. Especially after the last few years of Heat/Spurs. We go from beautiful ball movement to the ugliest isolation plays you've ever seen.

I watched the dunk a few more times from a baseline view, and I think Korver may have been reacting to Lebron swinging the ball wide as a fake to Smith at the 3-point line. Either way, Korver could not have made himself less of a factor on the play.

Hawks DeMarre Carroll's injury isn't serious

The MRI on Atlanta forward DeMarre Carroll's left knee revealed no structural damage and he is expected to be listed as day to day, a person with direct knowledge of the MRI told USA TODAY Sports. The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly until the team officially announced the results.

Carroll was injured with 4:59 remaining left in the fourth quarter of Cleveland's 97-89 victory against Atlanta Wednesday in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals.

He was hurt when his knee appeared to buckle as he was driving to the basket. He fell on the floor on the baseline under the basket, as teammates, coaches and trainers surrounded him and eventually helped him off the floor.

Carroll is expected to be treated around the clock for a deep knee bruise, too.

Cont'd ...

Hyperextension has a big impact in your head... you remember how you were helpless.. how you were probably doing nothing unusual when it happened... so how unstable it makes you feel... you just know it will happen again and very easily can if you don't let it strengthen back up.. cuz you do it again and things are gonna tear up next time

To their credit - Korver and Milsaps both said it was a busted switch. Not enough talking on the floor gets you whipped every time.

I feel like I just read a story from this book.

About the only thing that could be classified as "best case scenario" for the Cavs this season was their mid-season trade. If Carroll plays tomorrow it just means he's was a huge pussy last night. If he's gimped up like Kyrie I don't think you want to throw him out there against Lebron or JR.
