Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I know I'm in the minority here, but I think Boston could give the Cavs trouble. If Boston can clog the paint I think we're looking at a 5 game series for sure, and possibly even 6. I know that's not outrageous, but many people are thinking sweep. Boston is 24-12 in its last 36, and that's not nothing.
I wouldn't call a 5-game series, or even a 6-game series as "giving the Cavs trouble." Otherwise I agree with what you're saying.

The real question mark will be what the Hawks are all about. I see lots of smoke, lots of mirrors, and not much else in Atlanta, but they sure win a lot of games. The Bulls frankly don't much worry me.

I don't know that you can just clog the lane against these Cavs. They have so many shooters that someone will probably knock down shots if you leave them open. The Cavs have potentially 8 guys that could go off from deep if you leave them alone. I would be surprised to see anyone but Love or Lebron play the 4 during meaningful minutes in the playoffs. That will automatically pull one of the bigs away from the paint.

My guess is the Cavs come out on fire Sunday and win by 20+ and it is at most a 5 game series on the off chance the Cavs have 1 game with nobody hot. How many of those 24 wins came against teams that had locked up playoff spots and didn't really care? I know of at least 2. I think Stevens is a great coach and the Celtics are on their way up, but I still think the Cavs have the easiest first round matchup in the East.

But in those last 36 games they played like 8 games against teams with winning records or something silly like that. Just a reminder, the Cavs did play them at full force during that 36 game section and was up by 30+ in that game, and everyone knows how those last 2 games we gave them went. Our backups gave them a game in one of them.

Really this should be a sweep, it could be 5 games with Boston playing a A+ game in Boston and the Cavs learning that being up 2-0/3-0 does not mean you can take your foot off the gas. That is the only trouble I can see in this series.

Not worried about Kyrie in big games. Love on the other hand.

After further consideration Love is an asset even if he isn't hitting shots. You have to account for him behind the line regardless of if he is hitting, he's a good rebounder, and a good passer. If he was hot the Cavs would be up 30 now, but I'll take what they are bringing at least against the Celtics.

Noted Love hit 2 shots while I was writing this.

On the bright side this game was close enough that I don't see a letdown by the Cavs in game 2. If they had crushed them wire to wire I could see them not getting up for game 2 or 3. I could see them coming out in game 2 with the 30 point win and then laying a stinker in Boston. Lebron did seem to be giving consistently more effort the whole game than in the regular season.
