Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I think I know the answer to my question about when they save the Cavs are not playoff ready is it because that Love, Irving, TM, and a couple of the other guys have not played in playoffs and playoffs are much more physical (which I do not understand why) then the regular season. Also, I think the majority of the roster has seen the playoffs and if there were any problems they were just have to insert a few of those guys, i.e. Perkins, for a few minutes to settle things down. I think James can take care of himself.

I'm not worried about the Cavs come playoff time, because they're fortunate enough to play in the Eastern Conference. As of now they'd get two easy rounds of Brooklyn (likely a sweep) and Chicago who may take the Cavs to 6 (though I doubt they'll ever be in jeopardy of losing) before they played any real competition. The Bulls will either be without Rose and therefore lacking the same scoring threat, or they'll have Mirotic on the floor and he can't defend anyone. If Rose does comeback, I think I'd be even less worried, because they'll try to shoehorn him into big minutes and we know Rose plays poorly immediately following an injury.

The Hawks present a challenge, but hopefully the experience gained in "pressure minutes" in rounds 1 and 2 will prepare them for that.

It's one of those generic they aren't playoff tested yet things. But guess what... who is? Atlanta??? LOL, Golden State? nope, neither is Houston. The ONLY team that can say they are playoff tested is San Antonio. Really the only question is how will Blatt react in the playoffs. Hopefully his experience prevents him from shitting the bed. Cuz we are in the finals unless he does. And really... we should beat anyone not names the Spurs in the Finals. Golden State does not worry me at all because we have as much fire power as them and matchup pretty well with them too.

So yes... this all sets up a 1st round exit surrounding LeBron blowing out his knee or something.

Game strategy will be interesting finishing out the season..
Do the Cavs tank a few games and rest the players since they have a comfy lead over Chicago
Will Atlanta tank the last game w Chicago intentionally .. helping the Bulls stay in 3rd; thus in line to play the Cavs

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, you might want to reduce the playing time of some of the starters but you want them to be playing together so they do not lose their cohesiveness that they have developed all season.

You USED to be the Cavs GM.. soooo... Cavs play Boston twice in the next week... do you tank them to help Boston seed #7 slot?

On the one hand you don't want to lose twice to a team you face in the playoffs in a week. On the other hand it isn't really the Cavs if Lebron and anyone else isn't playing. Is it tanking if you rest Lebron, Kyrie, Love, and Smith until next week or is it not wanting to show your first round opponent what they are in for? Cavs will get good film on the Celtics either way.

No. can't do it. first, you need to be clicking on all cylinders going into the playoffs. at most, the starters sit one game to rest.

second, everyone forgets the big picture, and that's home court advantage for the nba finals should that occur. cleveland is really in a dead heat right now with about 4 western conference teams. the last thing the cavs want is to give someone like san antonio or houston home court for the finals because they tried to manipulate their 1st round opponent, who they should throttle regardless.

The Cavs don't need to play together now to get ready for the playoffs. They'll still practice, and maybe they'll be a little rusty in the first half of the first game, but the Cavs are so far above the potential 7 or 8 seeds (except maybe Indiana) that it doesn't matter how sloppy or rusty they are. They'll destroy these shitty Eastern Conference bottom dwellers.

I'd pick Boston if I had a choice. Their defense is not equipped to stop drives to the bucket. I think your best-case scenario is Boston, Toronto, then Chicago.
