Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Yep, hard to watch. LeBron 3-11 from the FT line, including two potential shots to win it. Going to be tough to swallow if they get a lower seed because of two missed free throws.

I have got to say, despite the awful offensive play and Thompson playing in crunch time (against Harden who bases his game off of drives???), I hate the Rockets. Sincerely.
Unless something absolutely crazy happens, Cavs will be a 2 seed in the East. Won't catch the Hawks, and I'd be very, very surprised if they don't lock down that 2 seed shortly. Toronto has looked pretty damn bad recently and the Bulls without Rose will lose more than the Cavs will. This is assuming Kyrie isn't out for an extended period of time.

Having said that, IF they get out of the East (I think that Cavs Hawks series will be great, can't see any other team get out unless Rose does get back before the playoffs like some say), then every game could conceivably matter. Since the West is so deep, you don't know who's going to come out of there. So if a lower seed does then the Cavs could have home court. If you were to say right now that a top West team comes out, then it also doesn't matter in terms of losing a few games that you could/should win (assuming it doesn't cost them the #2 seed in the East).

Dellavedova is bad at basketball. 3 points in 42 minutes is nearly incomprehensible. He committed more fouls than points.

I'm not a TT fan by any means, but one thing the kid can do is rebound.

Thompson can rebound, I just hope the Cavs don't overpay for him. Putting a ton of money into he and Varejao severely limits them in the future.

As far as Dellavedova, he's not great, but I think he's just what you want when playing 10-15 minutes a game. He's hit 39% of his threes this year, and he has decent passing vision. Plus, he works hard on defense. He doesn't have a huge ego and doesn't expect to take a ton of shots. You can't do much better when you're looking for a backup point guard on a budget.

The cavs are limited by the salary cap period. What they pay Thompson and varejao is irrelevant. They have kyrie and lebron on max deals and love close to that. Thompson will get about $12 mill per, which might seem crazy. But honestly, his value to the cabs makes him worth that much. Now, to a team that needs a legit pf, no.

Dellavadova is an average at best 3 pt shooter. He does nothing else of value. Trying hard, but still being terrible, doesn't make someone a viable backup pg.

Dellavadova is the cavs version of an Eric wedge Indians player. A "grinder" with marginal skill.

I think Blatt is starting to figure it out, but I still have some major issues.

James Jones was on the floor in crunch time tonight while Kevin Love sat on the bench. Thompson also played with Mosgov sat. James Jones can shoot the three, and Love is an awful defender, but what?? Love is still a top 30 player in the league, even if his stats were a little inflated in Minnesota. Thompson over Mosgov I'll never figure. Thompson's post-up defense is statistically terrible. What's he in for? Offensive boards? He's a nice energy guy off the bench, but I wouldn't let him play past the 4:00 mark in the 4th quarter.

My other issue stems more from the Rockets game the other night. What the hell was the offense doing? They're limited without Irving, but not that limited. And the bigger issue comes when the Cavs have the ball on the final possession in regulation with an opportunity to win the game, and Blatt draws up a LeBron iso? I heard this guy was an offensive genius in Europe. Why is he Mike Brown 2.0 in the NBA?

I'm guessing you didn't actually watch the game, or are just trying to fabricate things to complain about.

2 of the last 3 games Lebrons been kicked in the balls and been tackled in the lane. Where's the toughness from the Cavs in letting other teams know you don't do that to our superstar. They need an enforcer or Lebron is just going to keep getting blasted out there. Where's Arn Anderson?

They signed Kendrick Perkins to be the designated goon. We'll see if Blatt will actually use him to do what he was brought in for...

JV grabbed Lebron and he fell, it wasn't nearly as bad as it was portrayed, and probably not really worthy of a flagrant 1. but how did the cavs respond? they went small and made JV run around like a chicken with his head cut off, unable to guard anyone while lebron scored at will. toronto sinking every garbage 3 they threw up, at home, and they still lost to a cleveland team on the 2nd night of a back to back. That's the cavs response.

I was hoping Blatt would immediately substitute Perkins.. to bring law and order

It might have looked worse than it was. but things are getting to a dangerous stage.. LBJ could get hurt with one of these 'worse than it looks' ordeals.. and our season is done

If the NBA and officials don't address this, it will continue and get worse because every team knows they have to take LBJ out of the game and physicality is the only thing left
