Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
Utah's trading John Lucas, Malcolm Thomas and Erik Murphy to Cleveland for Carrick Felix, future 2nd and $1M, sources tell Yahoo.

Lucas.. 2 year contract.. $1.6M/year
Thomas.. 2 year contract.. $825K avg
Murphy.. 2 year contract.. $653K avg

Felix.. 3 year contract left.. $820K, $950K, $1M.. most guaranteed
I liked Felix as the backup PG

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
As much as anything, three non-guaranteed contracts give Cavs what one source calls, "Buying power," whether used on Love or elsewhere.

Whitelaw Reid ‏@WhiteysWorld365
Sources tell me that the Cleveland Cavaliers have signed former #UVa star Joe Harris to a guaranteed two-year contract.

we still need backups 1 and 5

Carrick Felix is nothing close to a pg. Dellavadova is the backup pg. Waiters can also run some point as can lebron

I'll still be disappointed if they trade Wiggins. I don't see anyone else offering anything better for Love than Bennett, Waiters, and a couple firsts. If the Cavs wait long enough The Wolves will probably come around rather than lose Love for nothing. If the Wolves try to throw another player in the deal along with Love I'd walk.

I still think that after this or maybe next season the Cavs would be better off keeping their current players than any trade for Love. Love makes the Cavs better the next couple years, but Wiggins makes them better for the next decade.

This is pretty much exactly where I am. The Bulls offering Taj Gibson, Jimmy Butler and "other assets" seemed like a joke to me. I hope to God that "offer" didn't actually cause the Cavs to start to panic.

Unless this is a two-part trade, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for Chicago. Their roster would look like this:

PG: Rose/Hinrich
SG: Tony Snell
SF: Dunleavy/McDermott
PF: Love/Mirotic (though they say he's almost unable to play the 3, making this even more ridiculous)
C: Noah/Gasol

I don't think that makes any sense, especially with their two biggest offseason moves (Mirotic and Gasol) left to soak up bench minutes. It's almost assured that their crunch time lineup is the starting 5 with the exception of McDermott in Dunleavy's place. Gasol, Love, and McDermott will likely be defensive liabilities, and Snell doesn't offer a whole lot of anything on offense. Noah and Love are pretty close to the perfect pairing, though.

I'm interested to see what the real trade talks between Minnesota and the Cavs are right now. They can't sign Wiggins and trade him this week, so we'll know soon enough. ESPN continuously reports that trade talks are "heating up," and even less sensational outlets like Yahoo! seem to confirm this.

WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO
DO WITH IT?
July 22, 2014

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Okay, the NBA Draft is over, just about all of the big name free agents have chosen their new - or old - destination, and the Summer League wrapped up last night. Now, the only thing left to do now is argue about how good the Cleveland Cavaliers are - or are not - going to be next season. And that brings us to the topic that has the entire Hoops World smitten right now: should the Cavs trade for Kevin Love in a deal that would include #1 overall draft pick Andrew Wiggins?

Might be looking at a 3-team deal concerning Wolves' JJ Barea.. who still has about $4.5M contract
and Kevin Martin who has like $8M a year for a number of years yet

And you forgot the 'other' player being talked about... Gorgui Dieng.

And you hear reports that Cleveland is in the market for a center... lo and behold Minnesota has one.

It seems like this trade is going to be HUGE... multiple teams and different players flying everywhere. Then you get the Cavs getting not one, but THREE guys on non-guarenteed contracts that basically make Wiggins + Bennett + these 3 Utah guys work money wise to get Love AND Dieng. And lets Minnesota just instantly cut those Utah guys and shed $3+ million in salaries.

Now it's time to help Minnesota shed the Barea and Martin contracts. Who knows... maybe letting Minnesota lose these contracts allows us to replace Wiggins with Waiters?

First off... if Chicago pulls off the deal they have to give up McDermott... that is the only way a Butler/Gibson trade is better than the Cavs trade offer. So you can discount this Chicago rumor as just something made up.

Also, signing Wiggins now means nothing. We could simply hear BREAKING NEWS: Minnesota and Cleveland have agreed in principal on a Kevin Love for Wiggins trade... they have to wait 22 more days before it can become official. But signing Wiggins is huge to help this trade move along so Cleveland doesn't have to trade more money in the deal.

Re: the City of Cleveland has not won a major sports championship since 1964 - that's 50 years. LeBron James, in the prime of his career, has come back to his home state to try and end that drought. Cleveland, despite not winning a title in half of a century, is a fantastic sports city, but the time is now for the Cavs.

Just sayin': I have no idea whether the Cavs would be better trading Wiggins for Love or not; (and I hope I'm wrong) but considering their "track record" I'm pretty confident that they will make the wrong choice.
