Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

picks plural? no. #31 overall, if it's not going to be used to move up on draft night? sure. i'm not sure where he'd fit in the rotation if the cavs drafted noel, but that's not a problem until later in the year. i suspect maurice speights will get buried on the bench once mike brown watches him play defense.

For the #5 pick last year I'd give up both 2nd's or one this year and one next year if needed. Still doubtful the Rockets would give up last years #5 pick just to open cap space. Those high second round picks would be valuable to a team that doesn't want guaranteed salary.

Is there any word on if Speights is going to opt out of his contract? Earlier in the season it sounded like a certainty.

I only saw Robinson play a game or two in college, but he seemed slightly undersized for the NBA, but a physical force inside that the Cavs could use off the bench if they do draft Noel. A four headed monster at the 4-5 of Noel, Thompson, Robinson, and Zeller would be pretty good.

edit- Just realized I'm an idiot because the Cavs had the #4 pick last year. Robinson was #5.

well the rub is as follows:

the only things houston could take back as compensation in a trade would be 2nd round picks this year, future 1sts, or non-guaranteed contracts. the cavs have several 2nds, they also have several future 1sts they could use, but won't, and they have non-guaranteed deals like that of miles, quinn and a few others. since i think the rockets will be hard pressed to get a 2014 1st for this guy, it really leaves them few options.

The Rockets already have a high second rounder this year, but no first. I'd give them the first pick in the 2nd and the second round pick next year for Robinson. No firsts.

Well, I'd say if their plan evolves to where they aren't going to get Noel (by trading the pick or whatever) then I'd say give them a call and see where the market is.

Various sources indicate Robinson can be had.. for ANYTHING... almost giveaway.. whether that's true .. dunno .. but kid has not shown anything in his 1st two places that remotely meets what was expected of a #5

So... maybe a good grab for 2 second rounders.. but jury is out whether he's NBA level or bust

That's why I didn't want the Cavs to take him in the draft last year. I think it's a steal if you can get him for any mix of 2nd round picks.

I'm happy that rumored trade did not happen. While I like Aldridge he is not worth the #1 overall (+19) no matter how weak a draft it may be. I agree he may be better than anyone in the draft but his Blazer teams have not exactly been spectacular.

in this draft i would trade the #1 and #19 for Aldridge and wouldnt think twice about it...only thing i would double check into would be his heart problem or whatever he had but i think that has been cleared up

so the blazers have wanted a true center for years, and have openly said as much. LA has been rumored to not be happy there and portland is probably not going to re-sign him in 2 years since they are now paying Batum a ton and Lillard will be getting close to signing his 2nd contract.

that, and the blazers are really stuck in neutral with their current lineup. I can't believe they wouldn't pounce on that offer.

Perhaps they could offer Andy and the #1 for L.A. Then, try to
move up by dealing #19 and the 2 second rounders.
If not, I'd look for Rudy Gobert to drop to the second round and
take and stash him.
This entire process is just tiring. I'll be glad when the draft is over. Of
course, much like the las two drafts, most Cavs fans will be bitching
about who they drafted. They sure hated TT and Waiters at the #4 slot
the last 2 years.

Surprised they would want a first round pick when they are trying to clear cap space, but I'll take it. Wouldn't be surprised to see them turn around and move the pick to another year.

I'm not going to give the guy a hard time for having a bad rookie year. Turning the 5th pick last year into the 19th pick this year is a no-brainer. 5 top 5 picks in a 3 year period :yow2:

the rockets would draft a euro who would agree to not play in the USA this year, thereby eliminating the first round cap hold and clearing their cap space.

what this also indicates is that cleveland is probably going to use their 2 2nds and extra cap space to move up in the 1st.

robinson was in a shitty situation in sacramento and playing in a system that didn't fit him at all in houston. if anything, this is an indication that the rockets screwed the pooch on that trade as patterson was a decent player.

Let's say we trade 19 for Robinson, and he takes Speights place on the roster. If you look at the latest mock drafts, although different, every one of them has worth while players available 24-30. My idea of worth while, is, a decent bench player who within a year is an upgrade over Caapi, or Gibson, and less money. So I agree see if we can trade 31, and 33 to move up.
