I am asking those more knowledgeable what the impact may be to the Browns with their current roster.
Thanks! Appreciate the insight and the write up. I was curious how it might impact their drafting. It will also be interesting to see what it means in free agent pursuits.Wade is a 1 gap disciple. If you're thinking of the classic, 2 gap, heads up, mammoth Dline... that isn't his thing. He runs anything ranged from bear, double eagle, to the under and a lot in between. Garrett will be our LEO similar to other defenses crafted in the mold. Personnel is alright for what Phillips does, we need help along the defensive interior either way. Richardson would be your 3tech, which is what he already plays, and Jobi can either play some nose or perhaps 3, 3i, 4i, etc etc. So these changes only moderately impact what type of player we're looking for. The early name I like who looks like a mid round is Bravvion Roy out of Baylor. 6'1 330lbs. A shaded 1tech nose who can clog the middle is what this team has been missing for a while. That, plus a good deal of depth.
Really need to trash the idea of the 34/43 etc etc. Most defenses run a wide variation of fronts, what matters is the alignments, assignments and caliber of player teams deploy. The terminology is rather outdated at this point.
Well that's a simple problem to solve. Got a defensive game changer on the line, but a new coach coming in? Trade that guy for draft picks and then be shocked that you are dead last in the league in sacks. From Cleveland.com article:

Holy hellSomeone posted some all-time freezing cold takes about the Browns including this one...

and I forgot Rod Chudzinski was the offensive coordinator for the Miami Hurricanes from 2001-2003...including the loss to OSU...and he was from Toledo St Johns.
Nice to see the Browns haven’t made much progress in a decade.
