Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

I don't know that McDaniels is really that great of an option. Wasn't he the guy that though Tebow was a first round pick? Not many guys have come out of NE and been successful.

Well, one New England assistant did get hired this cycle, and it wasn't McDaniels.

Other teams could have hired him, they didn't. Forgot about the Tebow thing (specifically) but the Denver stint was pretty terrible. Whatever you think about Brady, whatever the OC in New England has done the last 20 years is filtered through him. So it becomes a question of, do we have a leader and an offensive mind here? Or do we have Charlie "decided schematic advantage" Weis? There are 3 constants in new England. Bellichick, Brady and cheating. They keep winning... The other ones, not so much.

I haven't read a definitive story on the decision making process, but the snippets I have seen lead me to believe McDaniels was probably after Saleh on the list. And maybe just wasn't on the list at all once they talked to him.

Obviously the goal here is to actually align the organization toward a common philosophy. I think what happened with Dorsey was that he was a buffer between Freddie and the rest of the organization instead of them aligning them all in the same direction.

None of the means Stephanie (I'm not fixing it) is gonna do anything but keep the Amazon guys busy with dildo orders, but I'm all for rowing the same direction. (Thanks PJ).

And everyone uses analytics now for the most part. I think the Ravens have a guy in the booth. Also, we watched Freddie lose how many games because he did unforgivably dumb stuff in real time? Probably 2.

Mike? J/K

I don't disagree about that statement, but I feel better with 3 guys working together than McDaniels on his own. IMO if Stefanski can make Cousins a successful QB he should be able to do the same with Baker. I would still try to keep Hunt even if it means trading OBJ to free up cap space. Chubb and Hunt could be amazing together in a heavy play action offense. I feel Moneyball will show they don't need Landry and OBJ.

If they need to free up space for Hunt, and not sure they do, Olivier Vernon seems like you could replace him with someone cheaper and still get the same production. Isn't Hunt an RFA anyway? Is he gonna get an offer sheet with a first round tender? What that 4 million and change?

They have money, but if they need to reserve some for Garrett and Baker extensions over the next few years. Hunt is an RFA so they can keep them all. I was just underwhelmed by OBJ and his attitude during the season. On the bright side the Giants are a ton of dead money when they traded him so he isn't super expensive. I'm not sure what the Vernon dead money looks like, but he is expendable.

Stefanski?Florio had it right today.,Zimmer had been praising the addition of Kubiak to his offensive staff..crickets for Stefanski. I’m not sure Stefanski would still be there. You have Cook Rudolph Diggs Thielen you should be better on O.

They gave the analytics guys the rope we'll find out if the hang themselves with it over the next couple years. I think it's been proven that Jimmah can't be trusted to make these calls so let someone else try.

Hopefully Stefanski is smart enough to know what he doesn't know and let his staff do their jobs. Freddy's biggest fault was thinking he was the smartest guy in the room, when the opposite was true.

My thinking is that you keep them for the time being to help Baker... I think Odell (and this has nothing to do with keeping him or not, or smart football decisions) was an interesting canary in the coal mine for Freddie Kitchens leadership. The watch, the visor, and the getting him to do things that didn't hurt the team really for no good reason. Odell is always going to have a certain amount of "look at me" to him, and I don't mind that. I thought he played hard, I can't remember how many times I saw him downfield with a ball carrier looking to light someone up on a block (though he missed a few of them, but the effort wasn't lacking). Of course, you see the fine line between antics and detriment. I was one of those guys who always looked at Chad Ocho Johnson Cinco as harmless, until it got really fucking weird.

I mean, who else is in line for a big raise here? Schobert... but I can't see them bringing Kirksey back (though I haven't seen anyone say much about either one lately) so, there's some tradeoff there assuming they keep Schobert.

Randall is a free agent, but he's not on a rookie deal or anything so not much difference prolly.

The rest of the FA's are... you know, whatevs kind of guys.

OL is gonna cost some $ obviously, so I guess we'll see.

I will never understand that. What exactly do you need to get a jump on? The NFL draft in April?
Well, you see that there are these things called scouting department, free agents, combine, etc. and someone needs to put that together unless the new GM, HC, and Director of Player Personnel are going to let the old staff remain and do these things for them. I would think that they would want their own people to evaluate possible new "talent".

Kirksey can't stay healthy and is gone. I'm ok with keeping Schobert, but not at the cost of making him a top 10 paid LB so he may walk. My main case against OBJ is he can be satisfied playing in a run heavy offense, but that is a test for Stefanski's leadership abilities.

The 10th pick should fix one of the OT issues so they mainly have to solve the other. I think RG will be ok with better OT play. We need a TE as well. Be an interesting off season.

Hunt is restricted
Other money can be had by getting rid of some of these guys
Hubbard, Harris, Lamm, Kurtz. Carrie and Vernon would save quite a bit but not sure if I would let those two go.

Well sure. But the draft happens in April. The Superbowl is the first Sunday of February. That's in 3 weeks. You can't wait 3 weeks at the most to get a better candidate? I don't know if Saleh or any of the other coaches on teams who are still alive are better.....just the premise of not being able to wait until basically the end of January is insane to me.
