Odell Beckham Jr.'s cop slap case won't be pursued by DA office

Odell Beckham Jr.'s legal issues in his native Louisiana appear to be over.

The Cleveland Browns wide receiver was potentially facing a misdemeanor charge of simple battery for slapping the buttocks of a Superdome police officer in the LSU locker room after the Tigers' national championship victory over Clemson on Monday in New Orleans.

However, the officer in question signed an affidavit saying he did not want to pursue charges, Beckham's lawyer, Daniel Davillier, said in a statement Saturday.

I think the Kubiaks are staying in Minneapolis.

Thus far, on offense, we know the following have been confirmed:

PGC/WR - Chad O’Shea
RB - Stump Mitchell (holdover)
OL - Bill Callahan

Only other clearly rumored staffer at this point is Rich Scangarello, who would likely come on as QB coach.

There’s also been scuttlebutt regarding Mike McDaniel as OC, but Shanahan could block him from interviewing/taking the job. Of course, it’s possible Stefanski takes up the mantle of play caller himself.

This. I would love to have McDaniel on board. And handing play calling duties to a rookie head coach is starting the cycle of abuse all over again.

IMO the Browns DC position could lead to a 2 year path to a HC gig or back to a lifetime of being a position coach. If properly coached they have the talent to have a top 10 defense, but it's going to be all on the DC to get them to focus and stop being fuck ups. it's a good gamble for the right coach.

I'm not sure betting on the Browns to stop being fuck ups would qualify as a good gamble in my book.

I don't disagree. Wilks is probably going from HC to DC to position coach in 2 years on the gamble that he could turn around the Browns D. Luckily the NFL seems to be full of coaches that think they'll be the one to turn it around. Ray Horton tried twice with no success.

Nice thing about the Browns defense is that they currently have a pro-bowl player at every level. Garrett, Schob and Ward. There is some talent, which does make it something of an attractive position.

This is assuming said talent is used correctly, of course.

Depressing, yet comical, but interesting thought. WHAT IF, we merged the Browns and Reds discussions? I really feel we could break through rock bottom with the topics. What an abomination we could create. Eighth Level of Hell? This could be epic, end of the world type of shit! Cool!!
