Sounds like Williams is out and they're gonna go a different direction. Will be interesting to see what they can get. For the first time, this is an actual attractive job. Arguably the most attractive this year.

I do know this, they should try to find a coach that's okay keeping Kitchens as OC. He and Baker look special together. But most coaches want to bring on their own coordinators.

Go figure we'll blow up something that shows promise. Drafting Manziel and letting Hoyer go all over again.

I don't think Williams was the long-term answer. He did a nice job giving a listless team a shot in the arm, but nothing on his resume indicates he would maintain it. I'm as cynical a cleveland fan as you'll find, but i have little doubt Dorsey will finally find them a HC to keep things moving in the right direction. Who that might be, i really don't know; just as long as they stay away from McCarthy.

First game I actually had the chance to sit and watch all year. (live in the south and don't have the NFL package. Also a trade off watching the Buckeyes on Saturday. Gotta keep the wife happy during the season). This team was fun to watch and as the season went along, saw Baker Mayfield grow before our eyes and realize he is a fit for our Browns. If I'm management, (and I know I'm not), I keep everything in place and give Williams a chance to run this team. They played hard and I love Kitchens as our OC. The defense needs more speed (LB and Safety) and beef in the middle (DT. Wonder if Shelton could have helped here). The offense needs some help on the offensive line, another receiver, and depth at RB. I love what direction this team is going.

Dorsey doesn't concern me so much. Haslam on the other hand...

Plus the work, experience, leadership and skill shown to us by Kitchens shouldn't be so quickly thrown away. It's near impossible bringing in a new HC that doesn't want "his guy" and I'll be remiss to see the Browns part ways with both Williams and Kitch.

I'm also not fond of more scheme changes - especially defensively.

I get it, the Kitchens/Baker pairing looks really good. I just don't think Williams is the right way to go long-term, and there are other good coordinators out there if they can't keep Freddie on.

McCarthy? I will pass. Arians? Pass. When hiring a new HC, the question that one needs to ask, Is the HC I want to hire better than what I have now? Another several questions the Owner and GM really need to ask are, Haven't the players had enough turnover as it is? Will new hire (and staff) be better than what we have now? Is this team moving in the right direction with the current staff? Short of some great coach coming out of retirement (i.e. Cowher), I don't think anyone out there that is available is a true upgrade. Management doesn't need to overthink this. They got rid of Hue and this team won 5 of its last 7 games. They have got their QB and RB of the future. Have a smart draft and add a couple of FA. This team makes the playoffs next year. The Browns are moving in the right direction.

Honestly, given the alternatives, I stick with Williams and Kitchens... I'm not sure it's gonna get you past one playoff win... (But given the trajectory of the rest of the North, it might be one playoff win after a bye. Bengals are dead, the Steelers are old and this nifty new look Ravens are buried once they get Jackson killed - it won't be long) but the defense is already built to force turnovers and Kitchens plus Mayfield seem like the right sort of high risk high reward match on offense. With just enough punch you in the mouth ground game to make it work.

But it's more than scheme, these guys have - for lack of a better term - the right ethos for Cleveland and their fans, they want to see naked aggression. They play hard as fuck, they are finally fun to watch, the have the right amount of talent and trash talkers to be loveable... And in a game that didn't matter to them against a team that needed to win - with a physical veteran defense - they came out and threw haymakers till the end, and flat out played well enough in the second half to win. Get a couple more guys and they can overcome shitty calls on the road.. I cant even believe I'm typing that. If they really think Williams personality is an issue long term, ok. But I think his guys love to play for him, he handles issues privately, doesn't throw his guys under the bus and they go out and get after it. And with all that they play much more disciplined football that before. This is entertainment, and this is fun as hell to watch.

Usually you get a new coach so you can turn things around, there's nothing to turn around, this is a playoff team right now.
