Cleveland Browns (2016 thread of unrelenting dumpster conflagration)

@NJ-Buckeye :bow:
My guesses
Browns trade #2 pick.. maybe get #1, #2, #4 and a player this year... #1, #3, #5 next
They have too many needs.. and free agency was anything but a bonanza
They go for DE, CB, WR, OT, DT, LB in first couple rounds
They take a QB but hope to get lucky on round 2 or 3.. RG III is their QB for next few years; they'd be smart to keep McGown; and Pryor is safety stock

Quarterback is so important to any team that it is worth a king's ransom to get a great one. If Wentz goes to the Eagles and becomes Ben Roethlisberger 2.0, then the Browns will have gotten royally screwed in this trade.

Yes, I understand that Wentz could be a bust. The Browns had two options: (A) take Wentz at #2, which is a risk that might produce a franchise QB; or (B) trade down and don't draft a QB, which is a risk that will definitely not produce a franchise QB.

I am taking risk "A" 100% of the time.

i'm sure the redskins are quite pleased that they gave up 3 drafts worth of picks for the current starting qb of the browns.

Will Bosa drop to #8?? Zeke out of the top 10?? I don't really believe either will happen.

Zeke to Cleveland at 8 is a decent spot for both although with those other picks coming, Browns could easily grab Henry at top of 2nd round and fill spot on the Oline in the first maybe.

I like building at least cornerstones of the lines first then the playmakers but Browns need a lot.
Bosa does not fit into a 3-4 defensive scheme unless he could adjust to playing OLB really fast.. I doubt if Zeke falls out of the top 10. If he gets past the Cowboys, someone will probably try and move up into the top 10 to get him.. Miami is a possibility but I do not know about their ammunition to allow them to move up.

More guesses...
#1 & #2 go QB.. of which none of the QBs are probably truly top 20 (except the fact they're QBs)
so we end up getting the sixth best player at the #8 spot

and we now have 7 of the top 100 draft picks...

and a rookie QB will not help Philly this year so that pick next yr should be pretty darn good too

went over the qb numbers posted a few pages back.
40% of first round qbs turned out to be "good"
33% of second rounders
4% of 3rd rounders
7% of 4th
0% of 5th
9% of 6th.
Obviously this is highly subjective based on my personal idea of good and faded memories but I found it surprising.

It's real life Draft Day

Bosa does not fit into a 3-4 defensive scheme unless he could adjust to playing OLB really fast.. I doubt if Zeke falls out of the top 10. If he gets past the Cowboys, someone will probably try and move up into the top 10 to get him.. Miami is a possibility but I do not know about their ammunition to allow them to move up.

Chicago or Miami take our #8 pick.. we get their 1st rounder plus their 2nd or 3th round picks

Loved the trade made earlier today. I've been wanting them to trade down from the beginning. This team has way too many needs.

I would love Zeke but he won't fall past the Cowboys at 4. I don't think Treadwell is a good pick at 8 (that's stretching to get him that high). Bosa doesn't fit. I really don't know who they will go after now. They need some offensive playmakers.

The trade tells me they aren't in the get rich quick scheme that I think the Browns have been haunted by for the last 10-15 years. Give RG3 a shot, build up the skill positions we need, and take a shot at a QB next year if RG3 doesn't come back from the dead.

I like where we are sitting right now pre-draft. Just don't fuck this up like you have since '99

All the first round trade backs they've had over the years have been good moves IMO. The problem has always been what they do with those picks. I just hope Moneyball knows how to rate college football players so we don't have another Weeden or Manziel. Would love to see CJ fall to a 3rd round pick now that the Browns have plenty of them. I feel he has almost as much of a chance to be a franchise QB as the top 2 picks, but would have a couple years to season behind RG3 and McCown. I feel the Bosa is the next Watt so if he's there at 8 I take him. You can adjust the D based on the players you have. The Browns have the pieces to run a 4-3 with Bosa at DE.
