Cleveland Browns (2016 thread of unrelenting dumpster conflagration)

And, as day follows night, the Browns are back
I do not think we can completely blame this one on the team because I question some of Jackson's playcalling. They were running the ball really well and he calls a slant pass against All-Pro receiver. Granted that might have been on Kessler but he should have ran the ball backed up to his own end zone. Also, giving the ball to a guy for the first time this season in a critical situation was not very smart IMO

They are actually accomplishing the tank this year. I'll take a competitive 0 and 16. Get the first pick and see what they can build in a couple years. How long till they trade the Joe's?
I do not think that they will trade both of the Joe's. I believe that they should but just do not think that it will happen. They need to get a LT however in this next draft. JH is too injury prone and I just wonder what his value might be.

Isaiah Crowell donates paycheck to Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation

As promised, Cleveland Browns running back Isaiah Crowell donated his first game paycheck to the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation as penance for posting a “disturbing and unacceptable” drawing on Instagram of a hooded man slashing a handcuffed and kneeling police officer’s throat in July.

“I said I was going to do it and I wanted to follow through,” Crowell reluctantly told Cleveland.com upon being pressed about the $35,300 donation he issued to the foundation.

Crowell quickly deleted the Instagram photo, which can be found here (requisite graphic warning), shortly after posting it on July 6 to protest police shootings of black men Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, La., and Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minn. The following day, five Dallas police officers were killed by a rogue gunman at the end of a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest in the city.

“We have spoken to Isaiah regarding his extremely disturbing and unacceptable social media decision,” the Browns said in a statement at the time. “It was completely inappropriate and we have made him aware of our high level of disappointment. Isaiah has apologized but also knows that just an apology is insufficient and that he must take steps to make a positive difference after a very negative and impactful post.”

Here is a different angle from NFL films. This is the exact angle that the ref had. This shows that she blatantly lied, and the NFL backed her up, fully knowing this. That is the real pathetic part.
This is where I really get tired of the "we want to get it right" bullshit they always lay out there about replay. If that were true then why do we still have these types of issues? I really think that inept refereeing and replay are two things that are really killing the NFL.

I mean, just say that the ref FUBAR'ed the play and be done with it. Don't double down on the story, fully knowing this is out there, and start hitting other sites with copyright orders to have them take down clips showing how inept officiating was on this play.

But the NFL couldn't do that since they already basically told Cleveland they were hosed on that taunting call by not imposing the league mandated fine for such plays.

So, the leagues response is to now ban social media videos from games by teams......

There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the three hours, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set.

YOU are about to participate in a great adventure. YOU are about to experience the awe and mystery that reaches from the inner mind to... The NFL commissioners office.
