Cleveland Browns (2016 thread of unrelenting dumpster conflagration)

How many games did he even play? I swear he was a healthy scratch for at least 10-12 games, which shows how trash he has truly become.

Congrats to Bowe...you have officially surpassed Andre Rison
Contractually/value-wise, absolutely. But there were actually expectations given to Rison. Bowe had been a below average WR for at least three years, anybody that had any expectations for him was a fool...and that includes the clowns front office.

So, essentially Bowe was a bigger rip-off; Rison the bigger disappointment.

Burn it all if that comes to fruition. Literally, destroy the effing stadium.

I don't know what to think about what we're seeing so far. Some of the moves (Bowe, Dansby) make sense, and seeing guys like Mack and Benjamin walk weren't a surprise.

This could be an epic all-timer of a bad season. But I think the full tear down was needed as well. I can't imagine Haden (if he's healthy) and Thomas being with the Browns for a full season this year, I think both are trade bait for more picks as this team gets rebuilt.

I just hope Tennessee Jerrah (hatip @NFBuck ) will let the process play out without firing everyone in year 2. Again.

I do not think you will see Whitner around either. He will either be traded or just let go. The same with Thomas. Have not read anything regarding Haden. I do not think teams will bite on him because of his injuries last season. Maybe he will go before the trading deadline in mid –season.

Cutting Bowe. I'm happy as hell about. Carlos, I have mixed feelings because he was good against the pass but a liability against the run (which the Browns finished 30th in the league). Granted he is one guy, but enough had been said that he was weak against the run. Great locker room guy but he is in the twilight of his career. Wish him the best of luck.

While I'm not disappointed about who was lost to FA, am I to believe that the loss of four "main" FA guys (2 OL (Mack and Schwartz), 1WR (Benjamin) and 1 DB (Gipson)) are the only bright spots from a 3 -13 team? I mean how much further can you fall until one realizes its time to tear this thing down and rebuild? Granted it sucks doing this...again but I cautiously applaud the testicular fortitude that the front office is showing. Why overpay guys that do not want to play for your team? Mack was gone as soon as he opted out. Schwartz? I'm done beating that horse (Hated that pick to begin with). Benjamin, great returner, average receiver on a bad team. Gipson (based on his reaction upon signing with JAX, he didn't want to be in Cleveland). Robertson is on his way out and the Browns were not going to over pay CR or Gipson. The signings thus far are safe ones and nothing long term.

I will be surprised if Thomas and Haden are with the team come the draft. I have seen some discussion about it on other Browns and sports coverage websites. Nothing concrete but discussions none the less. If they are not traded before the draft, they will be traded before the deadline during the season.

Actually it looks like the Browns FO might have a plan, while signing short term deals while building through the draft (Here is to hoping that this group of brain surgeons don't screw this draft up with 10 picks and maybe as many next year based on what they do in FA this year).

I'm all for them not selecting a QB @ 2. I'm not overly impressed with this group of QBs especially @ 2. Take best player available and move forward with each pick.

After all guys, what's the worst that can happen other than 0 - 16 and the overall number 1 next year.

I don't think you'll see them just let Thomas or Haden go - they'll still have value to other teams, especially Thomas.

Did not mean to imply that they would just let Thomas or Haden go like they probably will with Whitner. However, I do think that it Haden's value has gone down a little with his concussion issues so they might have to wait until mid-season to get good value for him. Thomas on the other hand I might try and trade before the draft.
