Cleveland Browns (2016 thread of unrelenting dumpster conflagration)

While not necessarily giving Horton a pass, playing defense in the 13' season along side an offense that had zero running game to close out things with a combination of Weeden and Campbell as your QB's....

It just doesn't bode well trying to have one half of a team save the other.

Word out of Tennessee now is that the above report is untrue.

Wait...what? Something was reported on the internets and it turned out not to be true?

Reading fan comments in this thread makes me want to blow my brains out.
There is no curse... just a lot of g.d. stupid.

Highlights:
- Henry should be the #2 pick
- QB > DE, therefore Goff
- Joey Bosa can't play DE in a 3-4... just ignore all those times he played 3tech
- Joey Bosa will be a OLB in the NFL
- Ohio State players suck in the NFL

I'm sure there is more.
I not only hate this front office, but I'm starting to genuinely hate the fan base itself... the same morons that cheered when we went after Manziel.

Report: A year after suspension, Josh Gordon applies for reinstatement
img24995823.jpg

The terms of Gordon's suspension allowed him to apply for reinstatement within 60 days of the anniversary of the letter he received from the NFL notifying him that he was suspended. According to a report from ESPN, Gordon has filed that application, and the NFL has 60 days from the receipt of that application to decide his fate.

Within 45 days of the receipt of Gordon's application, he will be interviewed by NFL Medical Director Dr. J. Richard Spatafora and Medical Advisor Dr. Lawrence Brown.

The league policy states: “The Player will execute appropriate medical release forms that will enable the Commissioner's staff and NFLPA Executive Director's staff to review the Player's substance abuse history, including but not limited to attendance at counseling sessions (individual, group and family); attendance at 12-step and other self-help group meetings; periodic progress reports; and all diagnostic findings and treatment recommendations.”

In an email response, Greg Aiello, NFL spokesman, wrote, “To be reinstated, a player must demonstrate sustained abstinence. In support of their applications, players generally put forward verifiable testing records and/or submit to periodic NFL testing during the banishment period.”

The medical director and medical advisor will make a recommendation. Commissioner Roger Goodell will render a decision within 60 days of the receipt of Gordon's application.

If Gordon is reinstated, he will be under contract with the Cleveland Browns for the 2016 season because he did not play enough games in the 2014 season to qualify for a full year of control under his rookie contract. If the Browns elect to keep Gordon for the 2016 campaign, he would become a restricted free agent at the end of the year.

I'm sure he's learned his lesson.

Yeah, he's learned his lesson at least 6 times now.....:ohbrother:

1. At Baylor University in October 2010, during his sophomore year, he and teammate Willie Jefferson were found asleep at a local Taco Bell. Police found marijuana in Jefferson's car. Jefferson, who was driving, was kicked off the team due to it being his second violation, but Gordon was only suspended.

2. In July 2011, Gordon was suspended indefinitely by Baylor head coach Art Briles, for later failing a drug test and testing positive for marijuana.

3. On June 7, 2013, the NFL announced that Gordon would be suspended for the first two games of the 2013 season due to violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

4. On August 27, 2014, Gordon acknowledged that the NFL suspended him for one year for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. On September 19, 2014, his suspension was reduced to 10 games amidst the new NFL drug policy. Gordon was officially reinstated on November 17.

5. On December 27, 2014, exactly one year removed from being selected into the Pro Bowl, the Browns suspended Gordon from the final game of the 2014 season due to a violation of team rules.

6. As of January 2015, Gordon faced another year-long suspension due to testing positive for alcohol use.

I would assume the Browns will plan on Gordon never playing a snap for the rest of his career. If he keeps it together long enough to make it to the season it will be pleasant surprise or an asset they can trade to a contender with an injured #1 WR.
