Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

@Browns: BREAKING NEWS: #Browns name Mike Pettine head coach. #WelcomePettine Press conference scheduled TODAY at 4:45PM EST #StayTuned

Browns tab Mike Pettine as coach

Mike Pettine was named the 15th coach of the Cleveland Browns on Thursday.

The Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator was hired after he met for a third time with Browns brass, including owner Jimmy Haslam and CEO Joe Banner.

Pettine, 47, was not on the Browns' original list of candidates, but he emerged as others either took themselves out of consideration or were hired elsewhere.

I don't think that's a bad hire at all. I predict he lasts at least two seasons.

Amazingly, firing a coach after 1 season with no QB didn't attract other candidates. Haslam is trying to out do Snyder and Jerry. I know how that story ends.

Ah, yes...emerged. In much the same way as the view of the bottom of the barrel emerges once all other contents have been removed.

Something speically bitchtastic about a PC introducing a new HC where the owner and Team President both refuse to answer questions...what a fucking joke this FO is. That said, the coach said most of the right things. I liked several of his answers, but one question he really...and I mean really...punted on, and that was when someone (not MKC, she was asking what his favorite color for drapes is) asked him about what control or input he will have over the 53 man roster. He said "That is all being worked out now, so I am not qualified to answer that." UM WUT? You just signed a contract to be the HC or you wouldn't be a the PC, man. Basically that means he has zero input on the roster, and he didn't want to come out and admit that...and he was probably told not to say it.

didn't watch the PC but,
no sure saw on bills board he didn't want to hold up marrone (bills HC) and staff on next yr. and was close to coming back if Browns didn't offer job soon. Plus he got a 5 yr deal lot of $. He had complete control of Bills D, who he turned around, so why would he go be HC and not get to have major role in drafting and getting guys he likes. Turned a Bills D around like that. They get the right OC & QB I think you guys are .500+ team.
