Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

Not really 3rd interview... contract negotiations per many tweets this morning. So as long as the Browns don't screw that up...
Radio was blowing up this morning with this on the Fan...let's just say the consensus is less than thrilled...

Also MKC gave one of the most incoherent interviews in memory this morning...she would be better staying behind the scenes, rather than reinforcing her reputation by speaking in public.

Here's how I'm reading all of this:

It's obviously going to be either Pettine or Quinn. Schefter says there is a 2nd finalist interviewing today and while Mary Kat said that as of last night nothing had been set-up with Quinn, you have to think that is who Schefter is referring to (unless it is somehow McDaniels or Koetter but Mary Kay says he has dropped out...again...which is fine by me). So they either hire Pettine this week or they can interview Quinn up until Sunday but they can't hire him until after the Super Bowl. If they don't make a move by Sunday you have to think Quinn is who they want. I know Pettine wants this job badly and frankly after reading the link below I could get on board. They didn't go after any of the guys I would have liked them to so when you consider what else is available, Mike Pettine could be the right man for the job. Regardless of whether it is Quinn or Pettine, the most important move will be making sure they fire Mike Lombardi hire a sound offensive coordinator.

Cleveland Browns: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns are expected to offer the head coaching job to Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine.

Supposedly McDaniels called the Browns again and threw his name back into the mix, it was confirmed on the radio this morning that he and the Browns had spoken again...but it appears it will be Pettine unless something weird happens (which, for the Browns, should be expected, so...)

Agree with what your saying here except that the most important move is drafting the correct QB and second would be offensive coordinator.

I'd say both are equally important and correlated. Would it be better to have Greg Roman coaching someone like AJ McCarron or Marty Mornhinweg coaching Johnny Sweep the Leg? Browns need improvements in both areas...not that Norv had much to work with.

Pettine is the first candidate known to have a follow-up interview with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, CEO Joe Banner, general manager Michael Lombardi and team president Alec Scheiner.

The team initially met with Pettine on Jan. 16, and following the interview, Pettine's teenage daughter, Megan, tweeted that her dad was going to meet again with the team while taking a not-so-subtle shot at the Browns.

"It's the browns," she posted on a Twitter account since deleted. "But hey, still pretty cool!"
