Cleveland Browns (2013 Season)

Wow, what a sad display of football last night by the Browns. Lone bright spots from where I sat seemed to be Richardson and Cooper.

Interesting story of the morons sitting next to us. Guy one says Ohio football teams rank in order of Bengals, Buckeyes, Browns. Guy two says "what about the Steelers?" Second stupid comment came when guy one says Tebow is way better than Braxton. Wife was sitting between me and guy one and turns to me and says "don't say a word".

Guy one can suck it. Guy two is simply a result of Steelers fans inbreeding.

When I watch the Browns offense with Richardson playing the play calling looks very different from when he is out. I think they want to get Richardson the touches he needs and the expense of the rest of the offense right now. I feel that Turner seems to be playing it close to the vest for the preseason. Noted it doesn't mean shit if Gordon and Little can't hold onto the ball when Weeden puts it on them.

I think Cooper needs to make the team over Norwood since he just seems to make things happen when he is out there. If Johnson Bademosi is the best they can do at KR they need to tell him to take the touchback whenever he catches the ball in the endzone. From the perspective of someone that used to play offense the 15 yard line starting field position was as big of a killer for the Browns as anything. Especially when they would have gotten it at the 25 otherwise. Unless Benjamin is going to return kicks take the touchback.

Hopefully the poor excuse for football that we saw on Saturday was just growing pains in the new scheme and not a view of things to come this season, but we'll have to wait a couple weeks to find out.

Well that was the real Browns folks. They will be able to compete, and possibly favorably, with crappy teams like the Rams. But when they play a team that can pressure the QB (and actually I think the Rams could have if they had wanted to) and/or a team with an accurate QB and a quick release, they are dead meat. The holes in the secondary were exposed big time, so if they don't get pressure on guys like Luck, Manningx2, Brady, etc., they are in for a lot of long, long afternoons. They will matchup well with teams like Miami and Jacksonville...not much beyond that though. Was not surprised to see Luck have success...I was surprised to see how far of a step back the passing game took. The entire offense was beyond awful.

The Rams aren't crappy; but either way, it's the pre-season. Getting as doom and gloom about a preseason loss is about as useful as being ecstatic over the first two "wins". Let's wait until Week 1 until we let this thread get too depressing.

They haven't had a winning season since 2003...they're one of the few franchises that can match our last decade in the factory of sadness. I realize a lot of people think they are going to be better this year...but much like the Browns, I think we can believe it when we see it.

I do agree the preseason isn't too much to worry about per se...but the holes in this roster are obvious. It will take another year or two for them to close them.

They were 7-8-1 last year, pretty average for an NFL team. They led the NFL in sacks. They didn't lose to the 49ers last year. They were definitely not crappy.

The Browns surely have plenty of holes, I don't think most people expect the Browns to be a playoff caliber team. A steady improvement over last year with avoiding double digit losses would be just that, and with the current team I think there's a possibility of that.
