Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

If we can't get at least equivalent to that then take Geno

Geno + Trent would be awesome anyhow

1. They're not taking another QB in round one next year, and it'd be a waste even if they did if he still had to throw to these schlubs.
2. Geno Smith is a product of the same system Weeden came from, and his physical tools are comparable, except Weeden probably has a slightly better arm. It's easy to put up absurd numbers against crap defenses, doesn't mean you'll be a good pro.

Okay, so lets praise RG3 for one thing, and sh*t on Geno for the same thing.

Makes perfect sense.

And I can guarantee Haslam & his new guys won't give 2 f*cks about the bad Weeden pick. If we have the #1 pick (which we will) they will take whoever will help the team the most.

Geno can't hold RGs jock. So get off of it. He has an average arm, a slow
Delivery and much less Athletic ability then the Man you compare him too.

I was harsh on Weeden, but he's flashed some ability. We need to give
Him the chance to prove he can lead this team.
You're right- the haslam Office will take the position that helps this
Team the most. Which is a toss up between DB, WR or OG. NOT QB.

Geno Smith and RG3 are worlds different. They're not even remotely comparable. If you can't see that, then I don't know what to say. Stats aren't everything. If they were, Andre Ware and David Klingler would be in the HOF. Like I said, Geno Smith is a product of the exact same system as Weeden, and his physical tools are basically the same, just with a slightly weaker arm, so what would make anyone think the results would be different in Cleveland? Especially if you give him the same [Mark May]ty receivers to throw to. Like you said..."makes perfect sense".

I was as hard on the Weeden pick as anybody, but he's shown me enough so far to see that he might be able to play in this league for a few years if they give him some help. Why draft the same product again next year and ignore the other issues? Makes no sense whatsoever.

Yeah, which means it won't be a QB.
Exactly.

For those of you that are interested (this may have already been posted) the NFL network is airing an episode of A Football Life that is titled, wait for it....

Cleveland '95.

A look back at how the Browns and their fans had an all star lineup on the coaching staff and in the front office and then the city had the rug pulled out from under them.

Some day we'll be watching a documentary about the positives having to do with this team. Someday.

Leave it to the NFL to defend a man who shamelessly picked up his toys and went off to a town that had had the same shit pulled on them a decade earlier.

Cleveland did not turn their backs on the Browns. They faithfully filled up the stadium, but the owner turned his back on the city because he'd made a good many bad business deals and needed a bailout.

As close knit as the owner's fraternity is, I'm sure they knew what was going on and why and they let it happen because a brother needed a break.

I'm still angry.

Weeden is fine but I don't see the Browns doing anything while he's in his prime.

Regardless, be prepared to eat crow for what you've said about Geno.

I think Geno has the inside lane to the Heisman as of yesterday, but that doesn't mean he's a sure-fire anything in the NFL and it definitely doesn't mean he's an RGIII clone.

More importantly, the Browns have larger issues than QB, I said it last fucking year and I'm saying it again this year. At least Weeden doesn't look like Charlie Frye 2.0 (yet). But as long as they continue to ignore the Wide Receivers, Offensive line, Linebackers and DBs on this year, they might peak at 6-10 or 7-9 and go no further. The QB isn't going to change that, the NFL isn't college ball.

I don't think that's what the show will be about, judging by the preview. I think it's gonna be more about the Belichick coaching tree and what might have been if the original Browns hadn't moved.

I could honestly care less if Geno sucks in the pros. In fact, he probably will. Point being, some team may be willing to pay a king's ransom to get him. I hope he has the best season possible and wins the Heisman because it can only help us. Teams are getting such huge hard ons for athletic QBs that somebody will want to give up at least 2 first round picks. Hopefully, they give them to us.
