Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

I've heard all the stories on how Art "had" to move the team to Baltimore, but regardless it still left a bad taste in your mouth afterwards. Unfortunately Cleveland is kind of becomming well known for talent getting their start there and then getting traded/leaving later(See Cleveland Indians/Cavs).

I hope to God he proves me wrong, but I have a feeling this will go down as one of the dumbest picks in Clowns history...and, my God, has there been a lot, so that's saying something.[/LEFT]

I can't see him being worse than trading a first and second round pick to draft Quinn or trying to trade 3-4 first round picks to draft RGIII.

Weeden probably has the best arm the Browns have had since they've been back. The problem is that he is a 29 year old rookie and that they need to keep him upright, which they have never been able to do. Hopefully the OL will improve as the season goes on and Richardson will take some pressure off of the passing game. If Richardson can be a top 5 back this season the PA passing should be good and force the defenses to play on their heels.

Compared to the past several years it will be nice to have a QB that forces the defense to cover more than 20 yards of the field.

I'm sure some fans will organize a ticker-tape parade down Euclid "in memoriam". Since we're not winning anything for the foreseeable future.

I will thank Modell for forcing an 11-year old version of myself to really get into Buckeye football and this great university.

I don't expect any Browns fans to be happy that their team left but I have to be missing something here...

The stadium was shit and getting worse every season with no luxury boxes. The owner says plainly that he needs a new stadium or he's moving his team. The people had plenty of time and decided to do jack shit. He moves the team. Fans mourn...then give another owner exactly what Modell begged for. I don't get why the voters in Cleveland aren't to blame here. Does anyone think Art wanted to leave?

Hmmmm, that's not the way I (and facts actually) remember it. He leased the stadium from the city for something like $1/yr and spurned any city initiative to finance a new one. Once the Indians moved to their own stadium a major revenue stream dried up. Also, I seem to recall (as, again, does reality) that he, Art Modell, put a moratorium on any stadium talks the year before he moved them. Do I think he wanted to leave? No, but his own mismanagement (see "Rison, Andre") put him in a situation where he sold his soul to Baltimore to erase his poor decisions.
