Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Okay, I'm totally with the ledge-jumpers on the pick of John Hughes in the third round. The only really solid position on the team heading into the draft was DT, and they select another DT in the third round? And it's not like Hughes was some first-round talent who slid down to #87 and was simply too good to pass up - he wasn't even the best DT on his mediocre college team, and he was widely regarded as a seventh-rounder, at best. I find it difficult, nay impossible, to believe that John Hughes was at the top of the Browns' board at #87. This pick is every bit as baffling as the Owen Marecic selection last year, maybe more so.

Regarding Mitchell Schwartz - I like taking a right tackle at #37, I just don't know if he was the best player available at that position. I'll give the staff the benefit of the doubt on this one.

This is kind of where I am with both these selections.

John Hughes, as said, was a gigantic reach into the third round for a guy at a position that already has two solid starters. Don't understand it at all.

On Schwartz, I admit I don't know much about him, but I've loved everything I've read thus far. He had a really good week in Mobile for the Senior Bowl, started 51 games (35 on the left, 16 on the right). He scored a 35 on the Wonderlic. There's a lot to like with this pick, and I'm definitely going to give H&H the benefit of the doubt here. I admit I really liked Jonathan Martin, but this seems like a really solid selection.

EDIT: Marvin McNutt and Alfonzo Dennard are both available, so you could potentially pick up a WR and a CB in this 4th round. Two pretty good talents that had great college careers.

Hate to take it back to the Weeden pick, but I want to ask a serious question. What other team do you think had interest in him? I'm looking down the draft chart, and I'm not sure anyone picks him before 37. The only team that I think may have had some interest would be the Texans. They are within their window for the SB, and had some trouble with QB last year. Other than them though, who else even thinks about Weeden before 37? He just doesn't fit the plan of many teams besides us, maybe HOU, and SEA, who didn't have a pick between 22 and 37.

Seriously not knocking a rival team, but there just seems to be no rhyme or reason to who they are taking... Just none.

Bengals are drafting well again (actually 3 rd - 4th year in row)
Steelers - Slow steady, solid plan/pickups
Ravens - Making solid move ups and downs last couple years
Browns - Just terrible last year and minus a move the get Trent, as of now at least it looks to be terrible...

This is the worst run franchise in sports. What other team, in desperate need of starters at multiple positions, drafts a projected 7th rd DT after trading down in the 3rd round? The one position theyre relatively set. These [censored]s have no clue, or no clear vision, of what they're doing.

And I'll go one further...and you can laugh at me if you want...I'm actually not convinced Holmgren and Derpert aren't sabotaging this team for some reason. Its that bad to me.

Travis Benjamin with the #100 pick.

I don't like that he is under 6', but he looks fast, which they need. Hopefully he can stretch the field. At least they didn't take Kirk Cousins after trading their whole draft for the next 2 years for a QB in the first round.

Eh I like cousins a lot as a value guy and potential commodity. Like you said they can't draft anyone good for ages so you might as well address your biggest need with a forgettable round selection.

I hated giving up so much for RG3. This sort of balances it out IMO.

There are pretty slim pickings in this round

H&H were hearing whispers that someone was going to jump ahead of the Browns and take him.....
