Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

I don't have a problem with it. If they think Richardson is special, you make the move. The drop off from him is significant at RB, and you're, in all likelihood, not gonna get impact players in rounds 4-6. I think Richardson can be a special Peterson or Tomlinson kind of back, so I like the aggressive move.

If what they gave up was later than the 4th it is worth it. They need weapons. Now trade up again for Floyd.

If its for our 4th, 5th and 7th round picks then im fine with this move...i love richardson so im happy

Yeah, given the number of picks we have in that range, plus 3 of the 1st 37, that's nothing. It's clear that Richardson has been their guy and they thought Tampa was going to make the move.

Smart move by the Browns to make sure they get Richardson. That's good use of those late round picks, most of whom never make your club anyway.

So much for the Jets moving up and grabbing him.

So, Cleveland is giving Minnesota some draft picks to move down 1 spot and take the player they wanted all along?

At least it's not going to cost the browns a 2nd rounder this time...

ugh sorry don't like this move. Trich is the best rb in the draft but for 3 extra picks, even late rounders, doesn't sit sell with me even if tampa was going to take him... They should have traded down or stayed put and take Claiborn

Well, it's either that, or watch Tampa move up and take him...

Not sure what the downside is. What are the chances you get a player that's going to make an impact in rounds 4,5, or 7? Most of the time, 5th and 7th rounders don't even make rosters. Richardson is universally seen as an impact player, something Cleveland hasn't had since the rebirth. We still have another 4th, and 2 5ths, and 2 7ths. They gave up redundant picks for the most part.

No downside at all. They gave up 3 picks where you'll be lucky if one makes the roster, and as you noted they still have picks in those rounds.

Most importantly, they got the guy they wanted.

Not a terrible trade, I suppose... I've seen worse
Disagree. It was a stupid, panic-ey, chickenshit, pussy move.

In other words, typical goddamned Cleveland, where Einstein would flunk out of school with a D in math. It must be the water - makes people stupid.

Agree with everything most everyone has said. I like it. Although I think that's their only 4th? They now have 04ths, 1 5th, 2 6ths, and 2 7ths. The 6ths and 7ths, I believe, were all compensatory picks, so they cannot be traded. I don't anticipate them to trade up from here on. Maybe use the 5th and a later pick next year to get into the 4th but that'd be it, imo.

I like the stones, though. They clearly wanted Richardson, and Heckert was not going to allow Tampa to come up and get him. Good for him.

Given what Washington had to pay to move up, I'd say they laughed all the way to the bank.

They gave up dirt to get a significant bump in the draft. We're not talking about moving up from 23 to 22 here.

Clowns have two 4ths, they sent the Atlanta 4th, #118 overall, still have the #100 overall.

Not sure what your point is. They gave up 3 picks to move up one spot. To get who exactly? A RB that in every place I've read says "you don't take a RB in the Top Ten anymore.."?

I'm sure Hilton laughed all the way to the bank too.
