Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

I've read a few articles stating that the panthers would listen to offers for Jonathan Stewart.I've seen early speculation that it would take a 3rd rounder.. I like Richardson probably more then most posters on bp,but I still wouldn't risk it at where they will have to draft him at.

AFC North compensatory draft picks

The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens were the big winners in the AFC North when the NFL handed out its compensatory draft picks Monday at the owners meetings.

The Browns received four compensatory picks, which ties the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets for the most in the league this year. The Ravens, meanwhile, were awarded the two highest compensatory picks in the division, one each in the fourth and fifth rounds.

Compensatory picks are given out from the third through seventh rounds based on the value of the unrestricted free agents lost. Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors.
BROWNS: Received four compensatory picks: two in the sixth round (204th and 205th overall) and two in the seventh round (245th and 247th overall). Free agents lost: Abram Elam, Matt Roth, Chansi Stuckey, Jason Trusnik, Lawrence Vickers, Floyd Womack and Eric Wright. Free agents signed: Brandon Jackson, Dimitri Patterson and Usama Young.

RT - major need...
RG - jury is out, but sure would like a backup
C - stud
LG - maybe they saw enuf potential in Pinkston (plus Hicks) that Steinbach's value wasn't there.. and maybe I'm still in the clouds that Steinbach still has it
LT - duh
WR - major need... I'm not convinced Massaquoi is beyond a backup.. would he start on ANY other team in the NFL.. can't wait till we have a WR that a team worries about..
RB - major need... seems they're in the trainers room more often than the field
FB - major need... maybe I'm delusional but Zach Boren would look great here
QB - we'll never know until all the above is fixed
Shurmur must be a BP member and read my post :pirate1: .. :susp:
Just read he said:
he was drafting a RT that will start
Steinbach will probably be back
Massaquoi sucks.. well, he really said Mo Mass was hurt all year.. and sucked
I just need to convince Boren to enter the supplemental draft this summer

In addition to the 4 comp picks that you mentioned, the Browns also have an additional pick in the 4th round (pick 118 from Atlanta) and a additional pick in the 5th round (pick 160 from Denver). We lose pick 175 in the 6th round but have the 2 comp picks later in that round (204 and 205). We also have our pick in the seventh round in addition to the 2 comp picks later in that round. I would like to see the Browns bundle a couple of these picks and move up. We have an awful lot of draft picks this year and they better not screw it up:(

Can't trade the Comp picks, but getting those 4 picks might make them more open to moving other picks that they can trade. I would be very happy if they could find a way to come out of the first round with 2 of Claiborne, Richardson, Floyd or Blackmon. Even if that means giving up the 2nd and a lower pick to move up from 22.

Jeff Fisher calls Browns a potential draft day trade partner

If the Rams did move back up to the fourth pick, it would likely be a bid to get Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon. Assuming they like him, the Browns could then take Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill with the sixth pick while picking up something extra for their trouble. That whole scenario could get complicated if the Dolphins were to move up for their own shot at Tannehill, but we'll try to keep the wild speculation about something that will happen a month from now at a minimum.

More on Tannehill:

Cosell Talks: The Tannehill Project

Overall, I did not necessarily see the kind of improvement over time I would have liked. In the final analysis, Tannehill is a better prospect than Christian Ponder was a year ago. Tannehill possesses the skill set to be a quality NFL starter. At this point, he would be best in a quick-rhythm, short-to-intermediate passing game that featured play-action and boot-action passes. One thing we know for certain: He likely will be drafted higher than his body of work suggests he should be.

Oh, good...he's a better prospect than Christian Ponder was a year ago. I'm getting a sinking feeling, and I can only hope it's the knee jerk reaction that has been seared into me after 25+ years of angst. :bonk:
