Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

I'm rooting for the Browns to win games. They're the team that I follow, and they have a shit ton of first and second year players. Winning means they're getting better, and there's reason to believe that they'll be shooting for something better than a .500 record in the near future.

No. Big No. If you are a tired and true Browns fan then
You want no more than a 3-13 record. We need that
Lasting top tier young talent.

I see the Browns and Cavs in a similar spot right now. They are both one really good draft and a couple FA's away from being good next year so there is no use winning 5 games and ending up with the 6th pick in the draft this year.

it's really pretty easy. if brandon weeden shows enough for cleveland to say they don't need to use a high 1st on a questionable qb prospect, then cleveland is likely to have won enough games to be far away from that #1 pick.

ideally, they'll pick like 5th and the jets or kc will shit the bed and give up a ton to move up a few spots for matt barkley.

Exactly. The worst thing we could do is go 5-11 or 6-10.
Top 3 pick is what this team needs. Bonus points for the #1 overall.

Little actually didn't act like a total fuck-head yesterday. That little
7 yard catch and shake to get some decent YAC is exactly what we
need to see more of.

Still. We have a supplemental draft pick and some kid just signed to
the active roster that we're our best WR's. It's still a position that
needs to be addressed.

That said. I'm very excited for the future of Gordon. I think we're
going to love seeing what this kid looks like a year from now.

I second this, I am rooting for wins. If you look at the AFC there are only like 2-3 teams better than .500.

I agree, it's fun to watch the young guys to see who will pan out. The only two I've completely given up on are Maracic, and Lauvao. I'd like to see Smelly and Greco start in their place.

If the off season started today, I would like to see the Browns sign 2 free agent guards, a blocking tight end and a fullback if Smelly doesn't work out. Trade down in the draft for more picks and get another good corner, and use two high picks on linebackers. Other than undersized Jackson our LBs are bad, can't stop the run, no help in pass coverage, and have no idea what sacking a QB is.

BTW, we should beat the Colts.

Looking at who is availalbe at the top of the 2013 draft, the only viable positive for Cleveland is flexability. I stopped drinking the Matt Barkley kool-aid after the first USC game this year. He should have left last year because he does not look like the same QB he did last year.

While, I am not thrilled with the Weeden pick as a long term solution for the franchise, he is steadily improving as a decent QB and game manager. I am surprised.

With that being said, if the Browns do manage to win say 4 - 5 games and end up sitting somewhere between picks 3 and 7, who would you target?

We need another corner to replace Sheldon Brown, and we need at least 2 quality linebackers. The Giants game showed me how bad our linebackers really are. Again, I would trade down to get the extra picks.

Last year the Browns drafted a CB named Wade. Great football instincts, but too slow to play CB. Give him a shot at safety with Ward.
