Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

What is said above.

It's foolish to trade away THAT many picks for Luck. Other QB's will come along. Sure Peyton made the Colts go - but look how long it took for him to become that caliber of QB.

Bradford might very well be a damn good QB very soon, but look at his team right now. Pathetic Oline getting him killed, very few play makers on offense outside of an aging Jacking & Lloyd. They still have tons of concerns on defense including arguably the worst secondary in the NFL.

Lets give McCoy a chance to prove he can't hack it when he actually has a competent team around him. Then you get your franchise QB or developmental QB.
I agree. Even Otto Graham could not complete a pass lying flat on his back that there are some people think that Luck can. Build the team and then get a QB if Colt does not pan out.

Best. Player. Available.

It seems I beat this drum every year. Part of the reason we keep having these circular arguments is because the Browns' roster has no units that are strengths. There's nothing that this team can hang their hat on that they can build around. One day its, "The team can't move the ball because the QB sucks." The next its, "The QB can't do anything because there's no talent at the skill positions surrounding him." The day after that is, "None of that fucking matters if the line sucks balls."

Before the Browns worry about being good, they need to come up with at least one good unit to build around. I don't care what it is - though with a handful of players like Joe Thomas, Alex Mack, Joe Haden, etc. there are some places that seem like a better way to start than others. Don't worry about 8-8 or 9-7 or any pie-in-the-sky bullshit like that. Pick one thing to do, and become a Top 5 team in the league in that one thing regardless of your record. That can be passing, rushing, sacks, pass defense, rush defense, whatever. Take care of that first, and then worry about the next steps.

If that means they go with a DT and a CB in the first round, even though that's what they spent their first rounders on the last two years on, I'm fine with that as long as it with an eye toward being good at just one thing. If that means they draft a QB who can pile up completions and yardage right away but is guaranteed to get the shit kicked out of him for a couple years, I'm fine with that too.

Just figure out how to do something well, PLEASE. I don't give a shit about the team's record in the interim. The very fact that I'm still here is all the evidence of that that they should need.

I think they are set at TE. :p
I just checked a few mocks and they could go WR with their first pick and get Blackmon or Jeffery, but if they want WR they might be able to get Floyd with the Falcons pick. If they do that they could take Coples or Richardson with their first pick. One mock had them getting LaMichael James in the 3rd, which seems like it would be a win. I would hope they can plug at least 4 holes in the draft this year.

But, but, but he's already had something like 15 games. That's almost 1 ENTIRE SEASON.

Cleveland fans are tired and fed up, but they are giving no one a chance right now. They are tired of losing, but by being this way they decrease their patience with a coach/player, clamor for their firing/trading/cutting whatever and then cry when it doesn't work out.

That being said, that whole franchise is a black hole of misery.

absolutely no to both coples and jeffrey. coples has been underwhelming at best this year. he might be better off as a 3-4 DE, or at best a LDE. He's definitely not suited to play RDE, which is what cleveland needs.

alshon jeffrey is on the lendale white fitness plan. a fat slow possession receiver is definitely not what cleveland needs right now.

they definitely need to think about trent richardson in the 1st. after him, there's a substantial dropoff at the rb position. if he's really the best RB prospect since AP as people claim, then he'd be worth taking between 8-10.

I love Trent Richardson. Wouldn't mind seeing him in a Browns uni. I also like Blackmon better than Jeffrey. Jeffrey is FAT.

I'd take Richardson and Floyd. Both of those guys have been great since they were freshmen. I haven't seen much ND the past couple years, but Floyd has always impressed me on the field. They would just need to keep him out of the bars. I still think Little is going to be good, but if he was paired with someone even better McCoy would have enough weapons that we could put the blame on him if he doesn't produce next year. They need to get the OL taken care of as well.

this team is worse then last years team...last year we at least beat 2 quality teams, new orleans and new england...if we cant score a TD against the rams then we could very well lose every game the rest of the season...peyton hillis being a bitch doesnt help either

I would agree about taking Richardson if he's available. Watching Bama's game against Miss. St. last weekend he really reminds me of Barry Sander's style. He stays low, great burst and I can't fathom the angles of his ankles as his feet are still in contact with the turf. I also agree Blackmon would be good if available and do not want Jeffrey (dude shoulda come out last year).
