Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

I feel like I'm the only person who still wants them to take Richardson. I think he looks like the real deal.. best since Peterson imo. Perfect fit for the offense. No injury concerns. Taking a RB that high is ok when the kid looks and plays like Richardson.

BPA all the way, I think he's going to be the BPA.
I have mixed emotions about taking him that high, given that he'd likely be available a good bit lower. If they are to trade out of #4, he's still who I'd want hands down.

In other developments around the league that may very well have a trickle-down effect on the clowns, Joe Philbin is apparently set to take the Dolphins HC job. That could definitely give them an upper hand with Matt Flynn if they choose to pursue him, and the clowns aren't going to outspend Stephen Ross.

I honestly think it's pretty easy to assume that Flynn will be a Dolphin when it is all said and done.

From what I've read other than the awkward story from the Redskins fan claiming Holmgren is enamored by RG3 by him assuming that 1. holmgren really was talking about rg3 and not luck and 2. he was saying that he likes him for the Skins not the Browns.

I tend to lean more towards the conversations him and heckert have had with the media that focus specifically on getting playmakers at the WR and RB positions. And since we have the worst WR's in the league as far as drops, I'm hoping that's where they go with the pick, granted JB is still available.

I don't like taking Richardson that high because we could easily resign Hillis, and honestly if you look at the rbs around the league, its honestly year to year on who is putting up the best numbers on the successful teams. Plus I watched the entire natl championship..did not see TR break one tackle the entire game. He didn't even get every carry for Bama. They consistently substituted in their back up rb who actually looked better than TR the entire game minus the one run he broke to the outside in which he was untouched. Nothing impressive about this guy besides his stats in the weight room for me.

LSU's defense dared Alabama to beat them through the air. Their gameplan was 110% focused on Richardson, and it bit them in the ass. Going to have to disagree with you on that one. Richardson, from what I've seen, looks like the best RB prospect since Adrian Peterson. And unlike the Blackmon vs. Megatron, etc. comparisons, I'm willing to say he's on the same level as Peterson.

It wouldn't be fun if everyone agreed.

He also split a lot of time throughout his career with Ingram, so he wasn't a total workhorse his whole year like many guys of his caliber.

Richardson has been my choice for awhile now. I wouldn't mind Claiborne, because I'm not convinced that the defense is as good as its rating, and I would like to see another cover corner to pair with Haden, and give Brown a chance to extend his career by moving him next to Ward.

Is very true, it wouldn't be. We shall see because we sit at opposite ends of the spectrum because I think Richardson will be average and Blackmon will be one of the best players from this draft. Obviously you feel the opposite about Ricahrdson, and I'm not going to disagree with you about their gameplan, but again he still didn't break any tackles or make any really impressive plays against an albeit loaded, college defense.

My other food for thought here is say he is the next AP, I really still don't think that does us much good unless we have a playmaker at WR. The improvement from an average runningback in the league, say Rashard Mendenhall to AP isn't near as much as the improvement between an avg wr to an elite wr. Look at the vikes with AP, or the Titans with CJ, they're records are still terrible because they don't have those WRs to stretch the field to open up the run game like San Fran, Baltimore, and Houston, teams with great running backs, but can also stretch the field.

Recall how you said LSU just dared alabama to throw the ball and cued on the run, that's exactly what I see defenses doing to us next year regardless of if Hillis or Richardson or anyone else is in our backfield.

I totally agree with the above 2 players. Either one of them would be fine with me. I really would prefer Richardson because I did not see Hillis coming back for the money that he wants. Plus, he is a rumbling, stumbling RB. Richardson at least has some speed to get to the outside.

I don't know about Blackmon. I think we could bring in a veteran WR or get someone later in the draft. I guess the same could be said about getting a RB in free agency or later in the draft. Other teams seem to find hidden gems late in the draft and hopefully Heckert can find one or two.

I do not want to draft a QB with our first pick. I say give McCoy another year with a little more talent on the offensive side of the ball and see what happens.

good news for some here....Tony Grossi fired by the plain dealer

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...l-tweet-gets-grossi-removed-from-browns-beat/

Last week, long-time Browns beat writer Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer inadvertently posted an unflattering message about Browns owner Randy Lerner on Twitter.
?He is a pathetic figure, the most irrelevant billionaire in the world,? Grossi said. The tweet was later deleted.
As it turns out, Lerner may remain sufficiently relevant to influence the work assignments at the Cleveland Plain Dealer. According to CleveScene.com, Grossi has been removed from the beat.
Last week, the newspaper addressed the issue at its website, Cleveland.com: ?Last night, Plain Dealer Browns beat reporter Tony Grossi made an inadvertent, inappropriate post to Twitter concerning Browns owner Randy Lerner. Grossi has reached out to Lerner to apologize. The Plain Dealer also apologizes.?
