Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

I think Heckert has at least drafted some guys that are not only starting but have been productive. This team has so many damn holes from so many [Mark May]ty drafts that it's going to take time, but I at least now don't feel hopeless when it comes to the Browns and the draft. Couch, Brown, Big Money, Green, Winslow, Quinn and Edwards...that's a [Mark May]load of first rounders not on the team or even in the league. That's why we suck!

Overall, the drafting has improved significantly the past two to three years, but there is zero talent at the skill positions right now. Or, at least zero impact players. They traded up to draft Hardesty two years ago, and that move puzzled me from the start. They need to add some talent at those positions this year. If they don't, they aren't much better than the previous regimes, my IMO. But, I think they will. Who they add, and how they go about it should be interesting.

Agreed...I think in the past we overpaid for so many FA's that it has bit us in the ass. I can't think of a single FA that we have signed that I could truly say was a game changer.
Whether we draft RG3, Blackmon or whomever, let's just hope they succeed and don't rupture a tendon or get a staph infection upon arrival in Berea.

If he's available, would you take Mike Adams with the second round pick?

if we already take Blackmon/Griffin with our first pick, WR/RB at 2nd first round pick, then i would possibly consider it....i know adams will be high on alot of teams boards but i think he is more of 3rd round level...we deff need a RT but im not of the opinion that OL is of the most glaring need...this is a position we can get thru free agency

Watching this Fiesta Bowl, I am sold on Blackmon if he's there at at #4. He is a man among boys. Reminds me of Andre Johnson. And I'll tell you another thing, if Weeden is there in the 3rd round, I'd grab him, too. He is a stud. I know he's a little older, but I think he'd fit the WCO to-a-tee.

Yep yep yep. As long as he checks out during interviews and his combine is what you would expect, he's the one I've wanted all season. At #4, well worth it.

And did I mention I want Ball at the next pick (assuming he declares)? :p

Bruce Feldman @BFeldmanCBS Close
Justin Blackmon in four games vs. Top 15 opponents: 42 catches, 607 yds, 6 TDs. Stud.

He's a beast...would look good in a Brownie uniform, but I still like Richardson too. I still remember when we passed on LT.....

I've been very vocal about preferring Richardson, but watching Blackmon punk Stanford like this has changed my mind. In my IMO, it's harder to find a game breaking WR than it is a RB. Guys like Blackmon don't come along all that often.

Now, that said, if Richardson goes out and punks LSU next week, I reserve the right to change my mind again. :)

Also, RE: running backs... It's virtually impossible to pick up a gamebreaker thru free agency. If they go Blackmon at #4, I think they still need to spend on of their next couple picks to try to get a stud RB.

Agree. Would be nice if Ball is there with the ATL pick. I wouldn't have a problem with either Blackmon/Richardson...just sliding my preference to Blackmon after watching this performance.

Only problem I have with Blackmon really isn't his fault but... The clowns have a bad history of infections gone wrong... It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for the browns to draft him then him come down with a nice case of staph infection in that leg... Bye bye another first rounder
