Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

They just drafted Gabbert last year in the Top-10. They aren't drafting another QBdespite the fact that Gabbert looks like a girl.

im not ruling it out...did u see anything in gabbert this year that says future of the franchise? i sure as hell didnt...and according to Tony Grossi
TonyGrossi Tony Grossi
#Browns edged out #Buccaneers for 4th pick in draft by having a weaker schedule, .531 to .551. One win by an opponent could've swayed that.
so we will have the 4th pick in the draft...at that slot as ive stated earlier if RG3 or Blackmon are sitting there u take either one

No, he didn't look particularly good, but how many rookie QBs do...especially with the receivers he was working with? I can't think of anybody that has ever drafted a QB in the top-10, then turned around and drafted another one the next season. That's retarded...only the clowns are that foolish.

Clausen may have not been drafted in the top 10, but he was drafted in the 2nd round and so far the move is working pretty well for the panthers taking newton...not saying the jags do take a QB first round but i dont see what would stop them from trading up to get RG3 if they really think he is the real deal...in other browns news:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7410469/sources-cleveland-browns-hire-o-coordinator-2012-season

Despite statements to the contrary, the Cleveland Browns intend to hire an offensive coordinator to allow Pat Shurmur to put more focus on his head coaching duties in 2012, according to team sources.
Previously, Browns president Mike Holmgren stated he preferred Shurmur serve as head coach and offensive coordinator -- as he has done in his first season -- but Shurmur himself would like to add a coordinator, sources said.

Former Vikings coach Brad Childress, who sat out this season after being fired by Minnesota during the 2010 season, is among the candidates that have been discussed by the Browns. However, the team is also seriously evaluating other candidates with roots in the West Coast offense.
While sources originally identified Childress as a leading candidate because he was the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive coordinator for seven years when Shurmur was Philadelphia's quarterbacks coach, other sources said the organization likely will select from a different pool of candidates.

Big difference between top-10 and 2nd round money. Unless they find somebody willing to take on Gabbert, I'd say there's about 0.00001% chance of that happening. Teams that are in the process of rebuilding cannot afford two top-10 pick salaries at QB.

If Holmgren did indeed mean that, this franchise is fucked for the forseeable future, as he's clearly in the advanced stages of dementia. Nobody in their right mind can honestly believe that after watching Shurmur bumble his way through his first season.

I'd like to see Childress come on as OC. He was a shit HC, but he has a pretty good offensive mind.

between this (an btw it would make WAY to much sense for the clowns)and the draft.. i fully expect the clowns to fuck up this off season like no other...Even if you gave this team the first 30 picks in the draft..they'd find a way to fuck it up...

but as long as the money keeps rolling in the product on the field doesn't matter to the owner atleast

holmgren made that statement at the beginning of training camp if i remember correctly...no way he lets the franchise go another year without a OC...i would like childress as OC also

There's something in the air in Berea that turns seemingly decent football minds into nincompoops. Holmgren just appears to be the latest victim. I can only hope that was just his way of showing support to Shurmur (who doesn't deserve it), because if he thinks that, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

That last line is spot on. Lerner has no reason to actually give a shit as long as the fans keep lining his pockets by paying money to watch a shitty product. Put this franchise in 95% of the other markets and they're struggling to attract 35,000 fans a game.

Okay, the way it was worded sounded like it was recently. I can only hope that's an old quote.
