Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

Surprised nobody mentioned - Dqwell Jackson was named AFC Defensive Player of the Month.

I'm praying he can stay healthy as he's on pace for a great year.
Pleasantly surprised:) He certainly is a better MLB in a 4-3 send a 3-4. Now all the Browns have to do is sign him to an extension.

We need some playmakers on offense. People figured out Moore is our best option in the redzone and now we are struggling to find a way to move punch it in.

Really weird the way they have been breaking down the carries. Hillis needs a break before he ends up like Mike Turner, but there are some situations where he needs to carry it.

Hurt shoulder last I saw. I'm also praying Haden is ok. Can't afford to lose him at all.

I watched a lot clips on the game. Nothing much as changed for my wish list.

We still need to be more active up front. Our Dline shows flashes then next play gets blown off the ball. OLB is a growing concern as well. Don't think teams won't be paying attention to the way Cook handled Fujita. I still feel the same about CB too. Patterson isn't a #2. Hell, barely a #3. Sheldon has lost more then a step. In doing so he also spends to much time catching up with receivers and not looking for the ball. (Fade anyone?)

FS. I wanted to give Young a chance. I figured maybe he was a good player behind a couple great ones on the Saints roster. He's another backup. A quality backup - but 2nd string none the less. His attempt at a tackle on Cook's TD made me want to puke. Ward's constant liability in coverage as well is beginning to bother me. Safety's need to be able to play the pass first in today's NFL. Not the other way around.

I don't even want to get started on the offense.

Not sure WTF you're talking about. Hillis has been under-utilized thus far this season.

i hate to agree with that dolt, but hillis has not been under utilized if you've been paying any attention.

hillis had a career high in carries against indy in week 2. through the first two weeks of the season he had the most touches of anyone in the nfl.

he obviously didn't play week 3.

he had 8 carries in a quarter in a half last sunday before the defense went apeshit and the game required throwing 60 times. and this is coming off of strep, where he reportedly lost about 10lbs.

I guess I forgot to take the Indy game into consideration. Perhaps him only getting 10 carries last week and me shouting "run the damn ball" haven't left my mind.

Still. It feels as if we've ignored our "power run" tendencies with our new coaching staff. Hillis is most effective getting consecutive carries. Now I realize it isn't always flashly or easy to run on 1st & 2nd or 2nd & 3rd. But it sets a tone early on that IMHO haven't 'felt' yet this year.

Mike Turner had the one monster year where he got ran into the ground. He hasnt been the same since. I fear that is what is happening with Hillis.

agree with Turner...i think the number is 350...if a RB has over or around 350 carries in a year, then the following year that RB will be half of what he was the previous year (typically...i think LaDanian Thomlinson was able to buck this trend)...hillis only had 270 carries last year but it was by far his biggest workload in his career...he was also in alot on 3rd downs, something turner usually never is...along with the madden curse and ya hillis probably will have a down year this year...shumur was just quoted this week in saying hillis deserves more carries going forward also...i love hillis and i hope he can get better because we need this guy to be a force like he was last year if we plan on doing anything this season...im not saying trade the guy, and i know alot of people would think that idea is dumb, but if you want to get anything for him i think now may be the time...i hope we can re-sign him but i have a feeling he is going to want premo dollars along with a multi-year extension in the range of 5 years...i wouldnt mind a 3 year contract but not much more then that

It has nothing to do with Hillis "getting better"... again, maybe I'm the only one to see this - he doesn't seem to get consecutive carries much.

Fuck I'll find the break down on his carries and form something better then a gut "feeling".

I wonder what kind of money Hillis is expecting to get and what the Browns are offering? If I were the Browns I would front load the first couple years on a 4-5 year deal since they have money to spend now and I doubt Hillis will be very productive in a few years. Maybe give him some incentive bonuses for the last couple years if he is still producing. If he wants the Browns to break the bank on a 6-7 year deal I'd give him the trade.
