Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

Steinbach will be out for half of the season. I wonder if they will look for a free-agent left guard or just go with Yates but they still need some backup.

Ugh never good news.

And apparently the salary floor does not go into effect until 2013, so the Browns do not have to spend the ~$30 million they have available right away. Which is great, because in two years the Browns should be competing and spending a little bit more money.

Still like to lock up guys like Joe Thomas up long term ASAP, but at least we don't have to spend $120 million this year.

Edit:
here's the source. PFT (lol) but it's still probably valid

While I'd love to have Asante's coverage skills on the roster - to say he's lacking against the run would be nice. I mean. He flat out does not tackle.

Cover better then Wright? Yes. Tackle better? Hell fucking no. And keep in mind how terrible Easy E was in that regard.

Don't remember who it was on twitter, either Mary Kay Cabot or Tony Grossi, but they said the Browns are not looking to trade for Samuel. But I guess things could change.

Would be a nice add, but the price would probably be too high for the Browns.

I cannot locate where I read it but I am pretty sure that PUP was mentioned. We shall see. There probably will be more news tomorrow.

considering steinbach was running and doing light drills today and pat shurmur is quoted as saying that it's a minor issue, and the fact that he's not on the pup leads me to believe you misread something.

Gholston went to Chicago. I was really hoping he'd get a shot at a rush end in a Browns uni. If he returns to form as a Bear I'm going to be so pissed. (Happy for Vern though)

Bunkley can be solid in a rotation. For a 5th round pick I'm not complaining.

Yeah we'll be lucky to get Bunkley production out of Taylor this year, and he's a first round pick (not a knock on him, but it will take him time) so it's just the kind of move the Browns love: solid in the trenches, no fanfare, no fan interest  But we'll take it, anyone serviceable on the D-line is a plus.

Practice open to the public was until 11:45 today.

I have a friend in town who's up from Virginia for a couple weeks. Thinking about heading down to Berea (its only an hour) to watch them tomorrow. Either that or go golfing.

... Probably go golfing.

however, the fact that he had a knee brace on while doing a little bit of running is some concern. Also, the trade for the guard from St. Louis means that the Browns are looking for some back up. We shall see about Steinbach.

What's with that ass Taylor. He is really making a good impression.

I would like to see the Browns pick up a CB but most of the free agent wants her gone. Hated to see Clements sign with the Bengals.

Does anyone have an idea of what the holdup is? Figured we wouldn't have to deal with this shit with the new CBA. So much for the rookie wage scale preventing holdouts. I assumed these rookie deals would be nearly hassle-free like the NBAs rookie contracts.

found the answer

Players picked beyond 20 receive only three guaranteed years.
Taylor probably wants 4 years:(:(
