Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

Savage went all in with the FA's and look where that got us...rebuild 5.0. Let's give the Holmgren-Heckert team some time to do this right so when we do sign someone worth a shit it will take us over the hump to something big.

The only thing I don't understand is that the Browns have to spend a pretty big chunk of money just to get to the minimum salary requirement. From who they've signed so far I don't see them reaching it.

With the new CBA the cap only matters at the end of the year not now. They can add mid season players and also sign extensions to current players (Joe Thomas anyone?). Also look for Phil Dawson to sign an extension. HH get it. They are also letting the market cool down. Let's face it, The Cleveland Browns are not a high priority destination for elite players. Still penty of good ones out there. I think we see 4-6 more signings by early next week.

An obvious choice would be native Clevelander Nate Clements, who was recently released by San Francisco because of a huge contract signed in 2007. Clements is 30 and would certainly challenge as a starter with the Browns.

Nate was fucking terrible in SF though. I'm just saying. Might be better to go after someone cheaper.

It definitely would depend on price. Haden is the new man around here, so if we could get him for upper second/lower first corner money, he'd be worth a gamble. If he expects anything like he had is SF...pass.
