Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

I see that there is no mention that we probably have lost Eric Wright to Detroit but also could mean the signing of Nate Clements if the price is right. There are quite a few other free-agent corners out there and if we could get a quality guy that would solidify our defensive backfield for a while.

Free-agent corners

some of these guys would be pretty pricey for the Browns

Oakland's Nnamdi Asomugha,
Jets' Antonio Cromartie
Washington's Carlos Rogers.

An obvious choice would be native Clevelander Nate Clements, who was recently released by San Francisco because of a huge contract signed in 2007. Clements is 30 and would certainly challenge as a starter with the Browns.

Richard Marshall of Carolina
Chris Carr and Fabian Washington of Baltimore
former Eagle Lito Sheppard of Minnesota,
Leigh Torrence of New Orleans
William Gay of Pittsburgh.

Edwards is gone, unfortunately another pipe dream. We aren't going to get anyone impactful in FA this year I imagine.

Come on now... where you expecting our browns to go out and make a splash and make moves that would make sense? you should know better than to get your hopes up.

So, the whole team is like a WR now?

Michael Jenkins was released...could he be a "veteran" receiver the Browns sign?

Now, that's interesting.

Friend told me on Sportscenter the other day they said the Browns were the front runners to land both Jonathan Joseph and Ray Edwards...and they went 0 for 2 on both of them.

I'm shocked, E!SPN was wrong about something.

But anyways, as a fan this has been an exciting past few days and I'd love for the Browns to get involved but deep down I know that Heckert and Holgrem's plan of building through the draft is ultimately a wiser decision. It is not like we are ready to compete in the AFC North anyway.

Jenkins would be a nice add; originally I wanted the former Buckeye that played for the Jets but that was just a pipe dream.

Still kind of wish we pursued R. Edwards a little more, apparently he signed for 5 years/30 mill but only 11 mill was guaranteed, so not really that outlandish and the Browns have the money (and apparently HAVE to spend most of it).

Oh well, I trust our FO. Haven't heard that sentiment around Cleveland in a while

we did not get in touch with Ray Edwards according to his agent.
Mary Kay Cabot
Ray Edwards' agent Doug Hendrickson: "Cleveland never reached out to us on Ray or ever returned our calls.'' (Edwards signed with Falcons).
