Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

Would love to see Eugene Clifford and Nick Claytor taken as Undrafted FA's. Have these guys been picked up by anyone yet?

Claytor still has a ton of potential but was hurt by having to play in an option offense when Paul Johnson was hired at Ga Tech. Great feet and frame though.

Eugene Clifford is a great prospect at safety. Tore up the lower divisions after his issues at Ohio State.
this morning in Cleveland.com they weren't talking about a safety from the Eagles who was a all-pro a few years ago and is a free agent this year and you know about our relationship with the Eagles:)

Another Undrafted Free Agent that was shocking to go unselected was Oregon's Kenny Rowe.

The kid single-handedly kept Cam Newton in check, and gave Terrelle Pryor fits in the Rose Bowl.

I have no idea why scouts didn't deem him worthy of a pick in the draft, but kid is a player. Someone is getting a steal with him as a UDFA

I didn't think Rowe had come out this year, I thought he was a junior.

I remember him during the Rose Bowl though... 3 sacks pretty sure. Kid has a fantastic motor. He'd be great to get in as a pass rushing specialist. Lord knows we could use everyone bit of one right now.

According to NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora, the Falcons are out of the pass-rushing picture in free agency following Charles Johnson's deal with the Panthers.

LaCanfora confirms an Atlanta Journal-Constitution report that the Falcons will not pursue Ray Edwards. That leaves the Eagles, Seahawks, and Browns as perhaps the three most likely suitors for Edwards. Falcons fans will have to cross their fingers and hope John Abraham stays healthy for 16 games.

Pass. Cribbs, even if his numbers were down last year.

As for spelling Hillis, they're hoping Hardesty can do it and I've yet to see Bush show one clue that he's a capable nfl rb.

 Can't believe I forgot about Cribbs. I still think his versatility and explosiveness would be very good for the offense. If he doesn't cost too much I think he'd definitely be worth a look. But, he'll probably cost too much.

Not that I have a problem with adding Flashes to the roster, but someone needs to tell the Browns more Ohio State less Kent State.

the browns tried to get dane sanz but he turned the browns down for the bears...and i love having buckeyes on the browns but sometimes its a double edged sword when they start to suck professionally and i have to drink more alcohol because of it

I didn't want them to sign Dane anyway. He isn't what the Browns need at WR. I would have liked to get Boren, but someone made a nice crack about him needing to play for the Ravens for 2 years before signing with the Browns.
Has there been any word on Whitner yet?

Jake released

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2011/07/cleveland_browns_release_jake.html

BEREA -- The Browns have told quarterback Jake Delhomme he will be released, a league source confirms. The transaction is not official until Thursday, so the Browns may withhold confirming it.
Delhomme was scheduled to make $5.4 million in base salary in 2011 after getting about $7 million in an injury-plagued 2010.

Delhomme started at quarterback in Game 1 and suffered a high ankle sprain in the first half against Tampa Bay. He was rushed back in Game 5 after backup Seneca Wallace suffered the same injury.

During his injury, Delhomme transitioned as an active mentor to Colt McCoy. The two often drove to work together. But that role is less important in McCoy's second season. And Wallace, who was re-signed to a three-year contract, has more experience in the Mike Holmgren offense now being implemented.

Delhomme may wind up as a back in Denver or New Orleans.

Cleveland Browns coach Pat Shurmur doesn't rule out Browns submitting bid for Terrelle Pryor in supplemental draft

CLEVELAND -- With Browns quarterback Jake Delhomme set to be released on Thursday, will the Browns turn their attention to former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor in the supplemental draft?
Browns coach Pat Shurmur didn't completely rule it out during a press conference on Tuesday.
"We haven't finally discussed what's going to happen there yet,'' said Shurmur.
The NFL is still in the process of determining whether or not Pryor will be eligible for the supplemental draft, but it's more likely now that he's been ruled ineligible at Ohio State for 2011.
The Browns have done their due diligence on Pryor, a source said recently. Pryor has also received high marks from ESPN analyst and former NFL head coach Jon Gruden, a close friend and confidante of Mike Holmgren's. Gruden also highly recommended Colt McCoy to Holmgren last year.
