Like the majority of the rest of you guys, I also really liked what I saw in McCoy yesterday. He seemed to manage the game fairly well and his arm looked more than adequate for our offense:)
However, I think they game plan was scaled back a little bit until the fourth quarter when they finally let him throw the ball down the field. Saying all that, I bet the Browns sit him once Wallace or Jake are able to play. A final thought from the game is Harrison is a fucker and I would like someone to take a shot at him and see how he feels.

In the second half McCoy was 17-23, 214 yards, 1 TD, 1 int. At this point; I would sit McCoy until the O-Line rounds into shape, and maybe we get at least one receiver, that one could think of as a play maker. I would hate to see McCoy get the shit beaten out of him the way Tim Couch did.

It's funny to look back to the end of the preseason, where some posters were already labeling McCoy a bust. The kid had never played a down with the first team. The Browns, are very thin at O-Line, and WR, thats a polite way of saying McCoy was playing with a pack of dogs.

I don't think there offensive line is as bad as you are making it out to be. He had pretty good protection yesterday and you have to remember that the Steelers defensive line is one of the better ones in the NFL. I agree about a playmaking WR that would help stretch the field and give opportunities to other guys but I would not keep McCloy on the bench for the reasons you mention. I would like to see him play again Sunday and see how he does and then go from there.

This season is in the shitter, this isn't Tim Couch's offensive line (so he's not as likely to get killed), and they need to know if they need to seriously consider Mallett/Luck next spring. I feel better about Colt than I did 48 hours ago, but I need to see more. Playing him also gives him more experience. Delhomme is just a time-suck and Wallace is just a good back up. Neither of them are making a ton of money, so salary isn't a reason to hold the kid back. Starting Delhomme would be the same thing Eric Wedge did with the Indians that drove all us Tribe fans nuts...playing the shitty veterans over the kids for no reason whatsoever.

Why?

there is absolutely nothing to be gained by playing Delhomme or Wallace at this point when McCoy is both healthy and apparently ready to take a shot at the job.

That makes even less sense....the Saints aren't nearly as good on defense as the Steelers are....

I think Colt showed enough to warrant starting the rest of the way. He didn't look afraid to throw down field, he looked in-charge, he looked pissed that the Browns lost. His INTs weren't even that bad.

Basically, if Delhomme starts over him at any point this season, everyone in the Browns organization needs to be fired. I could see Wallace starting just to keep Colt healthy and get him a little more used to the playbook and whatnot.

But Colt could be the future, Wallace isn't. McCoy has already faced his toughest test and he passed easily.

This is the NFL and one thing teams are going to be able to do is look at the film, analyze what Colt does and devise a game plan to take away what he likes to do. Yeah, he played the Steelers yesterday but they knew nothing about him. The next three games we play are NO, NE and the Jets. We're not talking the Bills or Raiders here...these are real teams and they will be even tougher than the Steelers...especially the Jets.

I loved what I saw yesterday and am more encouraged than I have been in awhile, but we have been [censored]ty for so long that every time we get a young QB in here that has a good game everyone gets charged up and wants to go all in. The carnage is long since '99 and there is no disputing that and now everyone wants to repeat the same thing again. No wonder why we can't develop a QB.

There was a reason for the plan that was put in place. QB's that have had an opportunity to sit back and learn before being thrown to the wolves have been successful. The head of this franchise knows a thing or two about QB's so let's hope he sticks to his plan. Had Wallace not gotten hurt I don't think anyone would have been screaming to throw McCoy out there...(well, I take that back.

All of this may be moot anyway since the top 2 QBs have 2 good legs between them. I understand the point being made about playing him to see what he's got, however you have a team that has ZERO offensive weapons at this time with the exception of Hillis and I doubt he makes it through the year the way he pounds the ball. So, we throw him out there and expect him to win games on his own by throwing balls to Stuckey and Watson??

I think we might have a good thing here if we don't f*** it up like we always do.

I am not trying to be a wise ass but I have seen this a couple other places and I really don't understand it. I mean isn't it more the offensive game plan rather than what McCoy does in one specific game. I mean from what I saw he can throw the ball both long and short and has the general skills of any other QB in the NFL. I just don't see what other teams can take away from a QB's play from one game to the next. I mean the Browns offensive coaches:crazy: adjust to opposing teams defenses from game to game.

I know nothing about these pickups but I am glad to see that Lauvao get a start. I have heard good things about him but he has been held back by a, what else, a high ankle sprain. Also, nice to see that Colt will be getting another shot this Sunday.

BEREA -- In a surprise move, Browns right tackle Tony Pashos was put on season-ending injured reserve today with an ankle injury.

The club also moved defensive end Robaire Smith to IR with a back injury. The latter move was anticipated.

With John St. Clair sidelined several weeks with an ankle injury, it's possible the Browns will compensate for the loss of Pashos by moving right guard Floyd Womack to tackle and inserting rookie Shawn Lauvao at right guard.
The Browns filled the roster spots by signing receiver and return specialist Yamon Figurs and offensive lineman Paul McQuistan.

Figurs was a third-round pick of Baltimore in 2007. He also played for Detroit and Tampa Bay and most recently was with Oakland.

McQuistan is a versatile lineman who has started at right tackle, left guard and right guard. He was a third round draft pick of Oakland in 2006 and also was with Jacksonvile.

CLEVELAND -- Browns coach Eric Mangini said this morning that Colt McCoy will most likely start at quarterback on Sunday in New Orleans, unless Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace make tremendous progress over the next couple of days.
