Beautiful play right there. By far the best QB on the team. I cant believe they wanted to "redshirt" him.

I also like how he does not look happy. He's played a fantastic game, even his pick was a good throw, but he doesn't look happy. Always knew he was a gamer. Good to see his skills have translated to the pro game.

I know it's his first game.. but it's against the Steelers. He's made good decisions.

I'm encouraged, very nice start...but I'm still fighting off thoughts of Brady Quinn and Charlie Frye...they looked pretty good early on too. Cleveland has ingrained skepticism in me...

Colt looks like he knows what he's doing. Looks confident, doesn't try to do too much (aside from that last throw). Has a different feel than Frye and Quinn imo.

McCoy has actually shown willingness to throw down the field too.

Cleveland should name him their starter tomorrow. He's made some nice plays and didn't piss down his leg. The game wasn't too big for him, and their other options are nothing special.

For once it looks like we have a QB that can play, but it's only one game. One thing this franchise has been good at since their return is ruining QB's. He has some confidence under his belt so let's see where we go from here. I would rather take the long-term approach and stick with this year's plan and get this thing right than risk screwing him up like we've done with everyone else.

i would normally agree with this, but unlike many of those other cleveland teams, this one has a semi legit OL. james harrison really didn't do much of anything against joe thomas, aside from make 2 blatant helmet to helmet hits which were of course uncalled. also, allowing pittsburgh to blitz and be offsides several times doesn't help either.

long story short, mccoy did well with no legit weapons around him, against what is probably the best D in the NFL. Hard to not give him more burn with two gimps as the only other qb options.

cleveland is going to be 1-8 regardless of whether it is seneca wallace or colt mccoy under center.

with this team being a total MASH unit, trying to snare an additional win or two to finish 5-11 instead of 3-13 isn't going to make or break mangini's future.

as long as this team plays hard every week, and the apparent lack of talent shows itself as the obvious cause of defeat, then mangini will be safe.

there is no amount of coaching that can negate the filth that is eric wright or abe elam or eric barton.

at some point there needs to be some actual talent put on this team.

With Massaquai and Cribbs out he managed the game and looked like he was directing people..... I like it but I fear Mangini will not think for the future and think about his job... So I could see him starting Wallace when he gets healthy

I sort of agree. But everyone knows Wallace is not the future.
So if you play Colt and you lose, its much more forgivable as long as he is showing signs of progress (which I think he will)...
Id rather lose with McCoy playing well then with Wallace/Delhomme playing...

You know this and I know this...question is, will mangina? I hope so, because I really want to know now what we have in Colt. Hopefully he's the answer, but if he were to tank from here on out...then they need to start looking at drafting Mallett or Luck IMO.

We've been through this dance before. That's what brought us here. Should it be Anderson or Quinn or Couch or Frye...yada yada. The point is that we never have given our young QB's an opportunity to develop. Mangini may be the coach but Holmgren pulled the strings on this pick and I hope he holds true to His/their guns and lets him develop properly.

Every time we go through this process of "Lets throw him out there to see what he can do" it does not work. The one thing i see with McCoy is that he is accurate. He has a chance....I hope the organization gives him the opportunity to fully succeed rather than rushing him out there to just see what he can do...especially since this team is going nowhere.
