The last three games the Browns have gone 2-1 against 3 teams who are 19-7 combined, one of whom is the defending SB champs. The one loss came in overtime.

Browns fans should be excited about the direction this team is going right now. Last year, it would've probably been 0-3 and ugly.

Absolutely. I think we can all agree we wanted the "homerun" victory on this 3 stretch. I still think going 4-1 over the course of these 5 games is very possible and I can't remember being this excited to watch a Brown's season.

Very good things are coming.

Replace Eric Wright & Elam w/ semi-competent players and I believe this team is 6-3.

not with the total lack of pass rush this team gets. they need a DE that can actually command a double team, and someone that can get to the qb with any sort of regularity. sure marcus benard has 4.5 sacks, but look back, most of them came in one game, and 3 of them have been coverage sacks. he rarely actually beats his man.

the biggest difference between this season and the last X number of years is that this season has actually answered more personnel questions than it actually raised.

i think the position of need for the browns is obviously WR...we could of used a big play wide receiver, especially in the 2nd half to stretch the field and take safety help off hillis....carlton mitchell must not be that good especially if he cant even beat robinske out, who has done 0 for us...im not going to blame him for not getting on stuckey's fumble, because its stuckeys fault that it even happened...but robinske needs to step it up before he finds himself cut...i would love to see a AJ green/Massaqoui receiver corp

Who is Robinske??

This team needs another playmaker on both sides of the ball and if the best player available is a DE, that's where they should go.

I think they can get a quality WR later on in the draft.

I agree, the 2009 draft, we wasted 2nd round picks on Ms Roboski, and LB David Veinkune. The Steelers took WR Mike Wallace in the 3rd round, and the Bears took WR Knox in the 5th. Wallace is the Steelers #1, Knox caught 59 passes as a rookie.

As much as I like Mangini as a coach, I would never let him near another draft:

2009
1 Mack A
2 Robiski F
2 Massaquoi C
2 Veinkune F
4 Maiava D
6 Carey F
6 Francies F
6 Davis F

Pass rush is the biggest weakness of this team right now. Ryan's ability to get creative with blitzing has helped mask some of this problem.

That's not a long term solution though.

I don't think Wright is completely incompetent, he's had his moments - not just this year but in the past as well. Perhaps he's having a mental issue? I mean, getting beat a few times I'm sure can't help his confidence. I'm not trying to justify his poor play, only trying to understand why someone, whom other teams we're referring to as a bit "underrated" went downhill so quick. The lack of a pass rush I"m sure can't help. Just remember, Ward blew his ability to tackle Santonio as well. He's a rookie, a bit more forgivable.

I'm still pissed Elam didn't pick that ball off. How in the hell can't you grab that? Its in your hands and your a professional football player! If the Jets don't get the FG and our drive down the field remains the same, Brownies win 20-17.

That said: Positives so far.

1) We appear to have a QB folks.
That alone makes this team's future so much more bright.

2) Our front office has the ability to identify talent in FA and the draft.
Hardesty aside, Haden and Ward (for being the rook's they are) have been very solid. Should be fine contributors for years to come.

3) MM could be the #2 that I so much wanted (still want) Robo to be. We just need that #1 to really ease the pressure on the TE's and stretch the field.

4) I figured we would go 4-1 in this 5 game stretch. If we do just that, we'll be looking back at this game as a learning experience. A tough one without a doubt, but a great reminder for our players and coaches moving forward.

5) The Steelers Oline sucks ass.... let's fucking destroy them the next go around just like the Patsies did last night!

So my current thoughts on what the Browns need in the draft this year: #1 WR, CB, and a pass rusher that can bring down a QB.
Unfortunately, I think the Browns are going to have to draft almost the same way they did this year. They'll may have 3 CBs on their roster currently and Erika Wright (bye-bye) is a free agent and we have to get another safety. However, so much will depend on the CBA and what happens there.

I cant see any reason why he even has a spot on the team at this point. Might was well go see if you can get lucky with a practice squad guy or something...
I really don't think the Browns have given him a fair chance. He didn't see any playing time last year and he really hasn't seemed that much this year. I think he could do the same things as Mass... given the opportunity. Don't know what he was thinking yesterday when he saw the ball just laying there:(

Robiski, can't even get off the line of scrimmage, much less get open. There is a reason his playing time has been limited. Evan Moore although not a true wide out, at least gives us an effort, unlike little Missy Robo.

There is no way in hell you thought the Browns were going to go 4-1 in this stretch of games.....

I agree with most of the rest of your post though....

Apologies. I was trying to convey the next 5 games. I did however have a strong feeling we could (and would) beat the Jets.

Predict being NO and NE though? Hell no....

i still think theres a possibility of the browns having a shot at winning the division...our schedule is very favorable coming up...baltimore has a tough schedule playing at home against the steelers, and saints...and on the road against us and the texans...pittsburgh has not played well the past 3 weeks and shouldnt of even won @ cinci...they still have the jets and ravens and us to play...i think we can still lose one game to have a shot at possibly winning the division, even tho its a huge long shot there is a chance...i think this would be the only way of us getting to the playoffs because i dont see a 9-7 team getting the wild card this year in the AFC

here's the problem. robiskie clearly needs to play in the slot as he can't get off the LOS. The problem is that cleveland's offense is predicated on attacking the field horizontally with the WR's and using the TE's down the seams and vertically. That's mostly a product of the lack of talent.

that being said, that doesn't fit Robo at all, but is good for Stuckey. If cleveland gets a legit #1 wr to start stretching the field more, Robo could be competent in the slot. of course, for a guy taken at the top of the 2nd, that's not a ringing endorsement.
