great great win by the browns yesterday...probably best win since we've been back in '99...really impressed by of course hillis (best trade we've had by far since '99) and colt, our O-Line and Linebackers...we pretty much hit on all cylinders yesterday and had very few penalties which shows great discipline and you could say, eric mangini "smart" football...one thing im most interested to see is how colt progresses and how he plays when the weather starts getting bad...dont know off hand if hes ever played in 30 mph winds with light snow but i could be wrong...either way go browns and great win!

Late season games at Big12 North opponents would have provided inclement weather. Nebraska, Iowa State, Colorado, Kansas State, etc..

Granted - I don't think any provide the type of atmosphere of Cleveland in December but at least he would have played in cold/windy weather.

New Mangini Embraces Old One

By GREG BISHOP

Published: November 6, 2010

BEREA, Ohio ? Perhaps Eric Mangini reached his lowest point in January. He was eating too much, sleeping too little and wrestling with a chewing tobacco habit. His job as the Cleveland Browns? coach was fraught with uncertainty.
He faced a daily barrage of criticism. His weight climbed to an embarrassing level, and he kept thinking that his father had died of a heart attack at 56. Even his old nickname, Mangenius, resurfaced to mock him.
?I?m telling you, it was as miserable as could be,? Mangini said. ?It was like being on the treadmill, Level 15, every single day. So I decided, I?m going to change this.?

He's got the name of a guy from central casting.
Colt McCoy. Quarterback.
Perfect, isn't it? Right out of Friday Night Lights.
A guy named Colt McCoy was born to play quarterback. He was born to play quarterback for Texas. He was born to play quarterback in the National Football League.
And now at the tender age of 24, Colt McCoy is 2-1 as a starter in the NFL. He's won at the Superdome against the defending Super Bowl champion Saints, and on Sunday, he directed the 3-5 Browns to a 34-14 thrashing of the Patriots. With McCoy calling signals, the Browns enjoyed their season high for points, first downs (22), total yards (404) and time of possession (38.08).
Not too many rookie quarterbacks beat Bill Belichick and the Patriots. In fact, they're just 3-7 against New England in Belichick's 11 seasons as head coach. Before McCoy, the only kid QBs to beat the Hoodie were Ben Roethlisberger (2004) and Mark Sanchez (2009).

I'm starting to like the Browns.
Strange week for the Browns. Mike Holmgren sounded last week like a man who's itching to coach. It's an odd mix in Cleveland. The coach, Eric Mangini, had a shotgun marriage with the new all-powerful franchise czar, Holmgren, and most of us thought it was a matter of time before Holmgren picked his own coach and sent Mangini away.
The last two weeks -- with wins of 30-17 over New Orleans and 34-14 over New England -- have convinced me of a few things. One: It would be a mistake to fire the imaginative Mangini and his hungry staff unless the bottom falls out on this team in the next two months. Holmgren, if he really is interested in going back to the sidelines, should tell the owner of the team, Randy Lerner, that he's had a change of heart, and wants out to coach (pick one) San Francisco or Dallas or whoever. Two: The Browns aren't far away from competing every week in their division. Three: Colt McCoy is afraid of nothing, and I think it's unlikely the Browns will have to spend their first-round draft choice on a quarterback in 2011.
When you're not as good as the opposition, you have to find ways to get an edge. Or two. Two weeks ago, the edge came from a 68-yard fake-punt run by Reggie Hodges to spur the Browns to the win at the Superdome. Sunday in Cleveland, it came from the most imaginative play of this NFL season.
Cleveland was up 10-7, with 3:30 left in the first half, and in possession of the ball at the New England 11. In the huddle, McCoy got the play in his ear from offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and said to the 10 men around him: "Brownie,'' with the formation and snap count. And one of the guys in the huddle, journeyman wide receiver Chansi Stuckey, thought: It's go time. We're really calling it!

While I am very excited about these past 3 wins and how the Browns are playing, I have to control my emotions because of what has happened since 1999.
Also, I am beginning to like Mangini which is a very serious sign because I think Holmgren has got the itch and I would hate for him to blow it all up because of his ego. Lerner might have a big decision to make at the end of the year and I don't know, while I do now, that he is able to make the correct decision for the Browns. I just think Mangini and Holmgren are going to butt heads.

I think in the last 2 minutes of yesterday's game, the players made it apparent what they think of Mangini and his staff.

I'm not good at math. What does 10 x Worthless equal?

It just so happens that math was actually my best subject; and since you asked, it equals Matt Leinart (below). However, I guess it could also equal Brady Quinn. Well wait, I guess Brady wasn't entirely worthless, the Browns did get a "lousy" 6th round pick named Peyton Hillis for him.

wonder who comes in now as hillis's backup...mike bell goes down and james davis and harrison are both gone...its important to give hillis some breaks especially against a tough run D like the jets...although no run defense can stop hillis...pats until yesterday had not give up more then 100 yards to any RB this year and hillis almost doubled that...he also ran well against baltimore as well...cant wait to see how he does against the jets...and the subplots in this jets game are insane...how many players played for the old jets, the ryan brothers going head to head, mangini's old team, braylon edwards, browns trading the jets their 6th pick in the draft so they could have sanchez (so essentially sanchez vs mccoy)

Where is Jennings?

he was waived on sept. 4th...if you remember he punched a bouncer in the face during training camp...looks like thomas clayton (2nd year player out of kansas state drafted in 6th round 2007 by SF) will come off the practice squad and be 2nd in line for carries if bell cant go

Could it be that the Browns have finally turned the corner and are headed in the right direction. After yesterdays game, i sure hope so. Hopefully Maurice Clarett has seen the light of day in his life. We all have made mistakes in life one way or another. It's not beyond anyones wild dreams, but wouldn't it shock the football world if he came back to play pro-football for the Browns.
