Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

I don't think there is enough difference between Quinn and Anderson in the near future to pass up the opportunity to get value for one of them and perhaps wait a year to get another QB in a deeper draft.

I understand what you are saying about getting value but how do you really know about Quinn compared to the guys coming out next year when he really hasn't played that much to evaluate him and the guys coming out next year have not played one down in the NFL. Maybe we need to trust the coaches but I am not so sure.

Well, I do see a difference between Quinn & Anderson. You know what you have in Anderson a strong armed QB that doesn't read coverages well. Will look great in one game and crap the next. In Quinn you have a guy supposedly that can read coverages and hopefully would be steadier. But the real difference is you can get a 1st round pick for Quinn and not Anderson :tongue2:

I would like to get your guys take on if we do trade Quinn do you really want to live with Anderson:huh: I really hate to get rid of Quinn when we really have not seen him perform that much in an NFL uniform. Anderson, on the other hand I have seen enough.

We are Browns fans... you know the story. Quinn stays and he sucks and becomes the next Tim Couch. He leaves he becomes Joe Montana. The torture of being a Browns fan.

But regarding your question. Anderson isn't a bad bridge to the next 'great' young QB for the Browns. If you load up on 1st rounders who is to say we don't get Sanchez or even Stafford if for some reason he falls to #5. So we end up trading Quinn for another young QB who this coaching staff feels is better than Quinn, we are basically even. (plus we get another draft pick somewhere)

Start Anderson, maybe draft a late round QB to see if they can find a diamond in the rough. With so many young guys on this team no way we do well. We pick again in the Top 10 next year (heck, Top 5). It just so happens next year has some nice QB prospects. And who knows, maybe Anderson is more like the pro-bowl QB he was the previous year (doubtful, but you never know, maybe it was because our O-Line sucked last year and the WR dropped everything)

I was talking more about the Browns specifically not the rest of the teams.

as good a value as larry english is a #36, there is absolutely no way in the world cleveland doesn't take alex mack if he's on the board, which he won't be anyway, but scott wright's a total moron. there's also no way cleveland passes on lesean mccoy at #50 for a safety that's likely to be on the board when their 4th round pick rolls around. nicks and britt still being on the board that late is also comical.

cleveland would have to be blown away with a package for quinn to trade him, it's that simple.

If were not certain on DA, yet were trading Brady - then there's only one possible option.

Gimme Troy baby!!

The Browns would officially become my favorite team.

So let's run through a hypothetical.. trade Braylon, a scUMmer. Trade Quinn, a Domer. Trade Winslow, a Hurricane. Bring in Troy Smith.

I think I (would) like this regime.

Even better.

Trade said scUMer for a 1st rounder - draft Jenkins
Trade said Domer for a 1st rounder - draft Beanie
Trade said Hurricane for 2nd and (conditional) draft Robiskie

Holy god I would hump mangini's leg...

only of course after Troy was on the roster.

I think its a brilliant scheme... I'll call the Browns facility and let them know right-away!

Mangini drafted Mangold, Gholston and Nugent, right?

BEREA ? Eric Mangini can keep a lot of secrets between now and Aug. 10.
That day ? the week of the Aug. 15 preseason opener at Green Bay ? league rules require the new Browns head coach to unveil a depth chart.
He could do it before then, but doing so is less likely than Romeo Crennel rejoining the squad as a nose tackle.
With the draft just eight days away, anybody who wants a Browns depth chart must do one himself. Here?s an attempt to discern Mangini?s secret list, and how it will get jolted by the end of the draft:

Offense

? QUARTERBACK 1, Brady Quinn; 2, Derek Anderson; 3, Richard Bartel-*.
Watch words: Quinn might exit for a Round 1 pick. Southern Cal?s Mark Sanchez might be drafted if he slips to No. 5.

? WIDE RECEIVER 1, Braylon Edwards; 2, David Patten; 3, Joshua Cribbs; 4, Paul Hubbard; 5, Syndric Steptoe; 6, Lance Leggett; 7, Devale Ellis.
Watch words: Edwards, too, might exit for a Round 1 pick. Drafting an immediate replacement isn?t a given.

? TIGHT END 1, Robert Royal; 2, Steve Heiden; 3, Martin Rucker; 4, John Madsen; 5, Aaron Walker.
Watch words: Probably nothing higher than a Round 6 pick coming here.

? RUNNING BACK 1, Jamal Lewis; 2, Jerome Harrison; 3, Noah Herron-*; 4, Allen Patrick-*; 5, Marcus Thomas-*.
Watch words: The ?we-can?t-do-it-all-at-once? theme is all that would prevent the Browns from spending a high pick here. They?ll see how the first round-and-a-half go and might pounce. If Chris ?Beanie? Wells comes aboard with an extra pick, it could mean the Browns would run, run, run until daddy takes the car keys away.

? FULLBACK 1, Lawrence Vickers; 2, Charles Ali.
Watch words: Expect no additions.

? TACKLE 1, Joe Thomas; 2, Ryan Tucker; 3, John St. Clair; 4, Isaac Sowells.
Watch words: Worries over old man Tucker could bring a tackle with a first-round trade into play, if there is a trade for extra picks.

? GUARD 1, Eric Steinbach; 2, Rex Hadnot; 3, Floyd ?Pork Chop? Womack-*; 4, Kurt
Quarterman-*.
Watch words: Not a priority position after free-agency pick-ups.

? CENTER 1, Hank Fraley; 2, Dustin Fry-*.
Watch words: Fraley turns 32 in September. Alex Mack (Cal) and Eric Wood (Louisville) are serious Round 2 options.

Defense

? DEFENSIVE LINE 1, Shaun Rogers; 2, Corey Williams; 3, Robaire Smith; 4, C.J. Mosley-*; 5, Shaun Smith; 6, Ahtyba Rubin; 7, Louis Leonard; 8, Santonio Thomas; 9, Melila Purcell.
Watch words: Nine?s a crowd. Expect no key additions.

? OUTSIDE LINEBACKER 1, Kamerion Wimbley; 2, David Bowens-*; 3, Alex Hall; 4, Leon Williams; 5, Shantee Orr.
Watch words: Brian Orapko of Texas seems ideal at the right price. Whether No. 5 is the right price is the $35 million question.

? INSIDE LINEBACKER 1, D?Qwell Jackson; 2, Eric Barton-*; 3, Beau Bell; 4, Kris Griffin; 5, Titus Brown-*; 6, David Holloway-*.
Watch words: Southern Cal?s Rey Maualuga offers lots of bang, but James Laurinaitis becomes super-enticing if he gets bucked to Round 2.

? SAFETY 1, Brodney Pool; 2, Mike Adams; Nick Sorensen. Hamza Abdullah-*.
Watch words: A value pick outside Round 1, perhaps Missouri?s William Moore or Oregon?s Patrick Chung, is needed to replace strong safety Sean Jones.

? CORNERBACK 1, Eric Wright; 2, Brandon McDonald; 3, Hank Poteat-*; 4, Corey Ivy-*; Gerard Lawson.
Watch words: In his former life as a defensive coach, Mangini did well with patchwork secondaries. The Browns won?t spend a high pick on a corner unless it looks like a steal.
