Cleveland Browns (2008 Season)

This will certainly help our offensive line depth if he can make it all the way back. It would be very nice not only for the Browns vote for LeCharles to be able to play:) some football this season.

Yes it is an incredible plan by Savage et al. They assessed the weakness of the team after 2006, and make a bold commitment to bring OL quality and depth quickly.
I am excited to see the season start. With Bentley healthy I cannot think of another OL I would prefer in all of the NFL!
(This doesn't include Boone, Rehring, Cordle, Person, Browning, et. al.):wink2:

lookin' freaky sexy man!!

Now if we can settle down this situation with Kw2 - the team can turn their primary attention to bringing this defense back up to an acceptable caliber.

edit: I think he could be big Vern's Fasha... or at least a relative.

Cleveland Browns minicamp is under way
Posted by Tony Grossi June 10, 2008 12:55PM
Observations from Browns minicamp practice ...

? Tight end Kellen Winslow must be bionic. Although he didn't participate in team drills, Winslow bounced around nimbly in other portions of practice. You would never guess he was a man who's had at least four operations on his right knee.

? One look at LeCharles Bentley and you can tell what he spent his time doing when not able to run during his two-year rehabilitation from knee problems. His biceps are enormous -- the largest set of guns ever on a player in a Browns uniform.

? With Donte Stallworth (death in family) and Joe Jurevicius (knee) missing, Josh Cribbs got a lot of work at receiver. In one sequence in team drills, Cribbs dropped two short passes in three plays. Cribbs talked afterward about needing to tuck the ball in before running with it. Hey, better to drop them in June than in October.

? Brandon McDonald also was out because of a death in the family and will probably miss the remaining practices. That will give more time to young players like Mil'Von James and A.J. Davis hoping to latch on as the fourth cornerback.

? GM Phil Savage said that his search for another cornerback has sort of hit a wall. He's not interested in any of the unsigned veterans (Kelly Herndon, Duane Starks, etc.). He has inquired to at least two teams about a trade, but neither team felt comfortable parting with the player Savage wanted. Unless something unforseen happens, don't expect another cornerback addition until some time during training camp.

It is truly a sad story for Bentley. A Cleveland product who attended Browns games when he was a kid, when to a local high school, and attended the State university (The Ohio State University). Now, he only has one year left on his contract that while he has worked so hard to make it back, he is probably going to have to have Fraley or another OG to get injured for him to get back into the starting rotation or this will probably be his final year unless he would be willing to take a huge pay cut next year, depending upon whether he stays healthy enough, to stay with the Browns. It is just sad.

Great to see LeCharles in a Browns uniform!

I remember when he signed with the Browns and was interviewed on a local channel, his joy on being a Brown was the type you see with kids. It was just simple, pure joy.

In that interview, the reporter asked LeCharles where the Browns wanted him to play, center or guard, and where he preferred to play. LeCharles' response was simply, "I don't care where I play, I'll play wherever they want me to play. I will even come out at halftime and sell hot dogs if they want me to do that."

If he can stay healthy, they're is no reason for him not to see the field.
Its going to take a while to get adjusted and back to game speed,
but if he's capable he can come in to give relief at several key positions while battling for that starting job.

I dont see how that can be sad, if he stay's healthy - he has a solid shot as any to being a full time starter.
If he has as much joy as it sounds, then he'll find a way.

Go Brownies!

Cribbs adds making Hall of Fame to his career checklist

By Sean McClelland
Staff Writer

Wednesday, June 11, 2008
BEREA ? Joshua Cribbs made the Pro Bowl last season as a kick returner. His new goal? The Hall of Fame.
"I want to raise the limits for myself," Cribbs explained. "If I say I'm going to make the Hall of Fame, along the way, in trying to reach that goal, I'm going to make a lot of achievements for me and my team.

"I'm trying to be 'the' guy, I'm not trying to be 'a' guy in the NFL."
Uh, better not commission that bust just yet.
Cribbs, trying to convince the Browns to use him more as a receiver, dropped two passes within minutes during the morning minicamp practice Tuesday, June 10.
Oh well, it's only minicamp, as Cribbs was quick to point out.
"It's all the learning process," he said. "We're all getting back into the groove, working out the cobwebs. It's not a game. I have time to correct it."

Cleveland Browns' offensive line is terrific, with or without LeCharles Bentley

Wednesday, June 11, 2008
The best news about the Le Charles Bentley comeback is the Browns really don't need him to come back. Their offensive line really is that good.
There's something else about offensive lines - you can always use another good lineman. It seems someone always gets hurt, and that's where Bentley may help.
The emphasis is on may.
