Cleveland Browns (2007 & prior)

BROWNS CLAIM COLCLOUGH
The Steelers recently cut cornerback Ricardo Colclough, a second-round pick in the 2004 draft.
The Browns made a waivers claim on Colclough, and were awarded his rights.
The fact that the Browns secured Colclough means that no one beneath them on the pecking order (determined primarily by overall record) made a claim.
Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Panthers also made a claim for Colclough.
Having Colclough around comes in handy, since the Browns play the Steelers on November 11. And, by the way, the Browns are currently only a game behind their neighbors to the southeast.
To clear a spot for Colclough, the Browns placed nose tackle Ted Washington on injured reserve.

Hell I'd take a healthy DB at just about any point right now given the recent injury history of the Browns :p

No, Cleveland. Cincy fans have always been obsessed with Cleveland. They're jealous of the popularity of the Browns. Ever since '95, they've been jealous of the success and popularity of the Indians. And they're jealous because Cleveland has an NBA team, whereas Cincy only has the lowly Bearcats.

I remember going to a Browns-Bengals game about 4 years back at Paul Brown Stadium. Bengal fans had all of these printed t-shirts saying "Cleveland Sucks, Couch swallows" or other variations of the same tune. (ala Ohio State w/ Michigan). They even had towels that said "Cleveland Sucks." You never find that in Cleveland, unless it's in reference to Pittsburgh. (which in of itself is an example of inferiority complex).

Sounds like somebody else has a complex. Cincinnati fans were not jealous of the Indians' fan support in 1995 - we were merely calling most of you out on your bullshit claims that you were all lifelong diehard fans before that year, when there were only a smattering of people showing up for games. Twelve years later that doesn't really apply anymore, but that's what was going on in '95. I'd like for the Reds to draw crowds like the Indians do then and now, but I think most everyone acknowledges that will come around when the organization begins fielding a winner. Hell, the baseball crowds in Cleveland dwindled in correlation with the team's record, so it's not as if you guys are much better fans up there.

Also, NOBODY - especially in Cincinnati - is jealous of Cleveland having the Cavs. When I watch Cavs games or try to talk about them to other people here, I find nothing but indifference toward them and the entire NBA. Cincinnati is a college basketball city, and they don't give two shits about the Cavs. And your characterization of UC Basketball as "lowly" - especially in relation to the Cavs - is misplaced. I am by no means a UC fan - but there's no doubt that UC historically is by far not a "lowly" program - while the Cavs for the most part have been a "lowly" professional franchise.

You just made my point. Outside of football, Cleveland has always been a bandwagon city. You'll get no argument from me there. But even in football, Cincy has been a bandwagon city. And Reds' fans have the nerve to get pissed about the Indians' popularity in the 90s - questioning the loyalty of any fan crossing their path, asserting that their diehard claims were "bullshit". Afterall, some of those fans had to be diehards, right? It's not as if Cleveland Municipal was completely empty when the Indians sucked. But that didn't matter to jealous Reds' fans.

The "indifference" is in relation to the fact that they don't have a team. Ask your average sports fan in Columbus pre-1998 what they thought of the NHL, and your response would be have been indifference, because they did not have a team. Now that the Blue Jackets are 7-3-1, ask your average sports fan in Columbus the same question, and the answer will be different, and ironic, considering the current lack of popularity for the sport across the country.

I would question the indifference as well. Most everyone has an opinion about the NBA. They either watch it because they support a player or team, or they rip it because of the perceived "thug-mentality."

Now that the Bearcats suck ass (and they do), I'm willing to bet most in the so-called Queen City would either dismiss basketball altogether right now, or jump on the UK or L'Ville bandwagons - because, god forbid, they ever support the Ohio State Buckeyes or anyone from Cleveland.

Browns rookie to play vs. idol Some observers see young Walter Jones in tackle Joe Thomas
By Marla Ridenour Beacon Journal sportswriter
Published on Friday, Nov 02, 2007
BEREA: If Walter Jones approaches him in pregame warmups, Browns rookie left tackle Joe Thomas doesn't think he'll turn into a blubbering idiot or freeze in silence.
But he acknowledged he might be awe-struck.
''I think a little bit,'' Thomas said. ''He is such a great player. But I'm sure he's a really nice guy. I wouldn't be too much (in awe), so I wouldn't know what to say.
''It will be fun being able to see him on ground level.''

If I didnt live 1500 miles from cleveland i would have been to more mgames. i did go to detroit game on 1 Jun at the Jake. Indians won 12-11 by scoring 5 in the bottom of the 9th. I even went to 2 of the games when they were down here in tx playing the rangers.

There are afew diehards who will support the team, win or lose. sadly there are even more who will only support a team that is winning

With Ted Washington going down it only emphasizes the Browns biggest hole even more. The Browns have very little talent along the d-line and it is the single worst unit on the team by far. It is the unit that is in need of the most help.
